Toribash
Toribash, Baba Is You and FEZ, there is a lot of games in my mind but those are the ones that come first when thinking of games i really like. Another game that comes to mind is Burnout 3, man i loved playing that game, played more than all my other childhood games combined. Terraria is a game i too enjoy very much playing.

You just lost the game

Mortal Kombat- when I was a kid my dad used to whoop the shit out of me in this game until I cried about it. So much so that I got better than him and I was consistently beating him. I ended up venturing into online and for years, have been getting better; to the degree of me being beaten by only a few people online nowadays. This is the only game I can preform like this.

Alien vs predator- I don't care what anyone says. This game was honestly the best game I played in my entire life (basing it on memory). Im sure it wouldn't stand up now but its still cool to think about. I had a weird thing for predators at the time too.

Little big planet- Probably the most personal game to me on this little shitlist. Played the shit out of this game with my coming and going friends and family. Out of all 20 people that I played this game with in person. I only speak to 1 of them to this day, and the amount of memories made in this game is almost unbelievable. Im extremely bummed out about the new release of this game as I know its not the same, and my 12 year save of lbp (it combines all of the games together as you move to a new one) is wiped completely due to a corruption in the save. I never worry or upset myself over something so trivial, but idk something about this felt more personal to me. idk sorry.
toribash cuz it was a fat part of my life for like 2 yearsborderlands 3 cuz its fucking lit
assassins creed valhalla cuz you get to fuck shit up viking style

i have to mention ratchet & clank, spyro, sly cooper, crash bandicoot, pitfall 3D, jak and daxter, and ty the tasmanian tiger cuz those were the fuckin games i grew up on
you're on thin ice, pal
fuck you i'm not narrowing it down

SINGLEPLAYER
sometimes, you just want to be alone

1. batman (excluding arkham knight, haven't played yet)
i've never read a comic book in my life, but the batman games unironically turn me into the soyjak meme.
kicking butts and finding references, finding out more about the world was so cool to me.
i watched gotham, a show set in the universe, and would find so many connections to things i'd seen in the game and i found that really fun.

2. middle-earth
great combat system, nemesis system, and setting. wish i was more familiar with the lore before playing but i still had a great time.

3. witcher 3 (to be finished, also want to play dlcs)
you already fuckin know. great setting, mountains of content, insanely good quests.
haven't finished it and i'm like 70 hours in, but i think i play slowly. i try to do everything i come across.

4. ori
holy fucking shit, these games are awesome. silky smooth, incredibly satisfying movement.
combat toolkit that lets you be creative, especially in WotW. so so much fun, and story is pretty good too.

5. the outer worlds (to be finished)
i'm playing this right now and i never thought i would likea game like this so much.
the world is phenomenal, i am way too attached to my companions.

6. (new) tomb raider (excluding shadow, haven't played yet)
lore isn't as strong here, but the games are still a lot of fun to play.
the kind of puzzle solving that you do in the games is right up my alley, and everything looks so good as well.

7. assassin's creed (excluding 1, revelations, origins, odyssey, valhalla. want to play latter 3.)
i don't much care for the future storyline, but the historical settings are always great.
black flag is definitely my favourite, followed by 2 & brotherhood. unity & syndicate were meh, 3 alright.
i felt much more attached to ezio and edward, and missions in those games felt better to me as well, iirc.
i've seen that there were some drastic(?) changes made from origins onward, hopefully they're better than unity & syndicate
i'm talking pretty negatively here so i want to stress once more that i really enjoyed ezio & edward's stories
bonus meme: ac chronicles china was pretty fun too

8. max payne
played all three games from late december 2018 to early jan 2019.
1 & 2 have this undescribable charm to them, i was really surprised with how much i enjoyed playing them.
my noob ass also found them to be challenging, maybe games really have gotten easier.
3 undoubtedly is the best looking, but it lacks the charm that 1 & 2 had.
i wholeheartedly recommend playing 1 & 2.

9. control (excluding dlcs)
got this as a deal with my graphics card. the game's clunky at times, but i fell in love with the world.
it's a very weird game, in a very good way. fun combat, cool powers.

honourable mentions: heat signature, dishonored, sleeping dogs

MULTIPLAYER
life is better with friends

1. rocket league
there's nothing more satisfying than pulling off a ridiculous team play goal.
been playing on and off for years, can never stay away for too long.
next to toribash, the most amount of hours i have in any game, 1k

2. unravel
solving puzzles with a friend with smooth movement. this was such a joy to play through.

3. a way out
didn't think i'd ever play it, so i watched a playthrough of it.
i ended up playing it with a friend anyway, so my enjoyment was less than it could have been.
it's a good story game.

4. portal 2
i dont think i need to say anything

honourable mentions: dying light, of guards and thieves, overcooked, destiny, warframe, cs:go

CONCLUSION
i put way too much effort into this

- while these entries are numbered, it's not an exact ordering.
- wish i had more time to play these days.
- i know these are mostly normie games, i dont care
- i did not include toribash, even though it is the game i have by far the most hours on (i'm guessing around 3k~4k). i shit on tb for not being as good as other games, but there is a reason i chose to play it instead of other games. i tend to blame it on not being allowed to play games that spin up the fan when i was younger, but there are plenty of other games that wouldn't do that. i guess tb is kind of pog.

- if you read all of this, sorry. thank you. have a nice day.
alright guy
rainbow 6 siegefifa
gta

If I was able to have one wish, it would be to live closer to my one true love Fred, his beard tastes so nice.
He is also a far superior tk player.
LegGang
ok guys so initially i was gonna reply to every person that posted in this thread but as people kept posting i realized that would be extremely obnoxious so i chose not to

thanks to everyone who explained why they like what they like -- im pretty sure that i read all posts. its weird to single someone out but shoutout nitrate because disco elysium is fucking legendary and a fascinating, true rpg experience. some of the most clever and compelling writing ive ever come across in a game. i hope we get some sequels

i noticed that a lot of people's top picks are directly attached to nostalgia, which i kinda didn't expect at first, but i can totally see why that happens. i guess it caught me off-guard bc i beat most of the games that i consider absolute favorites in the past 2 years or so

anyways here r my favorites since i never posted them

silent hill 2 - i would have to write a fucking essay to explain why this is the absolute peak of the silent hill franchise, there are way too many things about it that i love. just rest assured that nothing could come close to it, team silent knocked nearly everything out of the park with this one.

the other two games from the silent hill trilogy were good but campy. they had the aesthetics down, the atmosphere, the horror... but, as dark as these stories could get, the themes were always a bit silly (i dont wanna spoil so i wont explain why). silent hill 2 is the exception in the series. the story, the themes and the characters are so complex, with each piece of them contributing to the worldbuilding as a whole. they really managed to create these people and dive into their minds while presenting all of that to the players through character designs, environmental storytelling, level design etc. while making a genuinely enjoyable, scary as fuck game. it's probably the best example of how to tell a great story through interactive media

but there are two problems: the voice acting sucks. sucks ass. really. some people like it because it's uncanny and fits the general mood of the game but.. god. and a lot of the dialogue is kinda funny as well, it often feels like something is off. it could be a big translation issue, since this is a japanese game, but iunno. its nice though its kinda the goat to me so id recommend it to anyone who likes horror or that would want to give it a shot perhaps

bloodborne - the dark souls formula but with very fast, very aggressive gameplay and a lot less tryhard bullshit. the controls are so responsive and feel perfect. most bosses are good or great; settings, designs and music are all top-notch; nobody really knows what the true lore is, but, from what the community has managed to piece together, it's super interesting. the old hunters dlc has the best content that this game could ever offer with some of the most intense boss fights ive ever played. it was my first soulslike, so id consider it pretty accessible for people that wanna get into these games. definitely more accessible than dark souls 1 too and fun from the beginning to the very end..unlike dark souls 1..haha..

yakuza 0 - it wasnt in my top 3 when i posted this thread, but i beat this game last week and holy fucking shit it's so much fun. everything is so over the top and the main story is so fucking compelling with a cast of extremely charismatic characters and a ton of unexpected plot twists. there's also a LOT of content: bizarre sidequests (some of them co-starring michael jackson), multiple pastime activities (shoutout karaoke), an addicting business management minigame... i think i got around 70h in so far and i still havent had enough

honorable mention: persona 5, it got knocked out of the top 3 bc of yakuza but its a really fun really immersive jrpg, i love it a lot

That was really bad sorry.
Someone tell me why this guy is highly respected by some people ???
There's this game called The Shrouded Isle that I like a little too much despite being rather short and simple.
Darkest Dungeon used to kick my ass but taking adhd meds helps a lot in decision making
Toribash. I'm a sucker for games with cultists and spooky shit but this game kinda stuck to me through the years
