People, especially staff seriously don't understand what racism is. Nigga isn't racism. Saying a "racist joke" isn't always "racist".
Its all about context and the manner in which it was said, staff (GMs in particular) really seem to struggle with this concept. I understand that rules implemented by staff are very black and white (pun intended) so that there is no grey area for arguing.
That being said I really feel that this type of ruling really kills of the community feel and freedom that games need. I think Toribash is waaaaaay to over-moderated and a much more relaxed take on rules creates a much less "Staff vs Players" atmosphere.
I'm sure in 99% of reports no one is offended. I think there is very very few genuine racists in the toribash community. Out of the 100s that say nigga i think none are actually racist. The only real racist person in the toribash community i can think of is Fish.
Fish never got banned for being racist (one of the only real racists) where as 100s of people having fun and casually using the word nigga have been banned.
The issue with casually using a word which is still very much associated with historic oppression is that it implies belittlement or ignorance of that oppression. This isn't a great thing to do, as looking at historical fuck ups is a good way to avoid making similar mistakes again. Not that we should try to pretend the world is still like that or harbour the grudges those times created, but to pretend that history should be ignored can be foolish.
Also I think everybody hates when the white man say that word because, they enslaved us
