Hmm, uni is piling up! I've currently got a week off but it certainly doesn't feel like it with all the stress and pressure at the moment with all the assignments and exams I have to prepare for.

I figured I should post in the thread, but I can't really contribute to this conversation.. I'm graduated and not in university.

So, I don't know if anyone here is an artist.. But I dipped my toes into GIMP last night. I successfully made a floating logo with a drop shadow behind it per tutorial, but.. I didn't really understand why anything I did caused the effects. I don't know what the layer mask really did, or why I needed certain layers. It's a little frustrating, but I really want to get through it.

Is anyone here knowledgeable in this program? A little guidance would be nice if not, I can continue to try to self-teach.. I just wish I had more time with it. Real life really does soak up a lot of "me" time, doesn't it?

I actually studied Japanese from Grade 5 - 12, it's quite fun to study if I say so myself. I really wanted to study it this year at uni too, but apparently QUT doesn't offer Languages to study for first year IT students! Since I've gone so long without speaking or learning it, I've completely lost the desire to continue studying it. I feel as though, if they allowed for me to continue studying Japanese uninterrupted, I would still be studying it. It really bothers me that something I've studied for 7 years, just... done and dropped like that. Might I add that I was a constant A+ achiever in Japanese up until the final 2 years of studying it, where I dropped to a B- and reached back up to a B+. (It started to get quite difficult!)


They also offered German at my school (I chose Japanese though). I have a friend who is absolutely obsessed with speaking German! He got to the point where he could watch German movies without subtitles. During lunch breaks, he'd visit hte German teacher to get some extra work sheets to do. I asked him what he loves about learning German, he told me he just loves the culture and learning another language is something he likes doing.

My strongest point would have to be maths, I am a 'certified genius' in all IQ tests I've taken, and although 15, I am currently studying university grade maths and engineering on a special course, so if you need any maths help ask away ;)

As of recently, I've been thinking a lot about hosting an event on the forum. This especially came to my attention yesterday when chatting with BBKing via #Vibe on the IRC. I've got a keen idea as to what I'd like us to host as a forum event, but I'd absolutely love to hear your ideas! Personally, I'm feeling a Multiplayer themed event. Not so much arranged duels and such, since it can be such a hassle to manage those! I'm feeling more of a Multiplayer best replay sort of event. The player submits their "best" replay, it might be an epic save, an awesome decap, or just a really well fought match. What are your opinions on this, do you think this is a good idea? Please, provide as much feedback on this idea and even possibly suggest other event ideas.

At one point I was thinking about getting a cash injection and hosting an event just for trickers, but the idea never passed through but yeah, I like the sound of a multiplayer event, maybe for like the most deserved win, or have different categories they could enter their replays into, would definitely like to see this.
