Why I Think Duels and Priv Servers Have Gotten Boring
Back in 2016-18 duelswere pre chill, you'd just say something like "hey, /jo icetrucker, duels on for 2k TC" . People would usually join, nobody was salty n I assume everyone was enjoying themselves getting blown up by a pendulum n etc, you could OP peeps and they'd load whatever fucked mod they had and maybe turn on small tc duels for that too

Besides shoveling, "noobclapping" and etc (which you could usually agree on not to do, people still did it but eh) , nobody was really tryharding, you could get banked and make the tc back the same day doing tourneys EZ

Nowadays if you ask to play an interesting mod the result is either
1.They join, lose once, leave or say "shit mod reduel in abd 12k tc"
or 2. "I only duel boxshu or lenshu"

Rarely does anyone want to even try an edited mod like wushu no dq regardless if duels were on or off.

Barely any match is replay save worthy cause it consists of people in hold all crab launching the whole match, maybe a grab here and there.

Idk I'm rambling holy shit bye

I never walk down the stairs because you can fall and break your neck from it.
I never liked duels because I big suck at Toribash.

to be fair this is a big reason i don't enjoy playing the actual game at all anymore. it's either tryharding in an event, waiting forever in a betting server or playing some white belt guy who dips after like 2 games.

the only reason I actually play this game is duels. Casual games is fun sometimes, but after many games it just gets boring.
when dueling, I have a purpose of actually trying to win, and enjoying making tc sometimes, and others getting bankrupted, and then start all over again. It gives a purpose for playing the game, unlike casual games that have no purpose and gets boring after a while.

I feel the same way, I would never mind being banked or lose a clan war to people playing to be interesting, rather than to a player that just sits and waits

i agree soo much, i rant and cry about this a lot

in abd, trying to leg grab, shovel, use decap openers, or anything like that was a huge faux pas back in the day. nobody did it and if you did you're an asshole. people played to have fun and now people only play to win, by any means possible. abd used to be my absolute favorite mod and now i havent had fun playing it in a long time. similar stories for the other popular competitive mods.
meta evolved to cancer, everyone plays the exact same way

i really miss the 2012-2016 days of toribash

This is what I sum it up to. It's the reason why wushu is dead to me and i can confidently say it is to others too. I don't care to win or lose, I try to make the most out of every fight. Even if I'm up 10k points in wushufixed, I'll always arm up a comeback and do it. Where's the fun in just holding all? Duels are a bit different so it doesn't really apply all the time, unless you're just friendly wagering things, then by all means do whatever.

This is the same reason I've always had respect for select members in RelaxAll, Alpha, and Fl0w. Back in their own respective days, there would be private lobbies full of them, or scattered about just playing the game trying to make the most of it; trying to just have fun and give it their all. There's more skill to show after a series of comebacks and strikes in wushu but still losing, versus holding all or running away after a point lead.

People seem too fixated on the win, they forget everything else about the game. This is how I see it.

Maya's response above was also good.

this is particularly relevant to ed and loli's posts.

Here Kane (and later Bod) talks about all the drama that lead to wushu's death and mushu's birth... i'm sure many of you know the story already. I was chatting with him about it yesterday, and he wondered if the winpoint rule was implemented before the point-system change, maybe things could have gone differently. Oh well: winpoint is implemented now because of Kane. Take advantage of it, it's great in wushu and lenshu.

Speaking of which, Kane is soon hosting a Wushu Endurance Onslaught tourney. Winpoint threshold changes a lot, and mitigates the more boring playstyles.
Timeout (2000 frames) is a draw, and you must reach the 80k winpoint threshold to win.

If you miss the older styles of wushu play, donate to it and take part

Edit: also must say, it is understandable that players now play boring, because the game allows for it. Kane has created a ruleset intended to change the environment such that boring playstyles don't work.
