man what a card

imagine dominick winning the championship belt in 2020 what fucking timeline is this lmao

I guess Cruz's dismissal of ring-rust will be put to the test. As undeserved as the title shot is - I actually give him a pretty good chance of winning. I'd still pick Cejudo as the favourite to win, though. I don't care what he says about ring-rust, I very much think it's real.

And agreed, it hurts me bad that Hardy is on the main card above Pettis, Cerrone and Wedum

Predictions time:

Main Card

Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje (already gave reasons on previous post)
Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz - above all else on the card, I want Dom to win SO. HARD. He's up there with my favourite fighters to watch of all time. Even in his loss against Garbrandt, he was getting rekt so hard and never stopped coming forward and trying to win. Guy is a legend. I liked Cejudo until this stupid 'Triple C' gimmick. I could get on board if he wasn't giving the audience a nudge and a wink all the time. Like, I get he's playing a character, but at least stick to your character. Like Colby Covington does.
Francis Ngannou vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik (already gave reasons)
Jeremy Stephens vs. Calvin Kattar (already gave reasons)
Greg Hardy vs. Yorgan De Castro - don't know Yorgan is and don't really care who wins.

Preliminary Card

Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis - Pettis is the younger fighter who won their first encounter. History says that pretty much guarantees he'll win their second fight. Very, very few exceptions to that rule.
Aleksei Oleinik vs. Fabricio Werdum - This is actually a really interesting one. On the feet, Werdum wins all day. On the ground, I'm leaning towards Oleinik, but I'm not very sure as they're both amazing down there. I reckon this one will be contested primarily on the ground - Oleinik will try to get it there and I don't think I've ever seen Werdum even try to defend a takedown. This might be the first time we'll see Werdum try and resist going to the ground. Either way - I'm looking forward to this fight!
Jacare Souza vs. Uriah Hall (already gave reasons)
Carla Esparza vs. Michelle Waterson - I think Carla wins by boring unanimous decision. Carla's takedowns will be too strong for Michelle I think, but Michelle's submission defence means Carla will have to grind it out. Love the Karate Hottie but I don't see her winning this style matchup.
Vicente Luque vs. Niko Price - already gave reasons on previous post, but just wanna remind everyone how fucking great this fight will be. This is the dark horse of the whole card, the fact it's so low down on the card is a testament to how amazing this whole card is.
Charles Rosa vs. Bryce Mitchell - dude pulled off a twister in his last UFC fight. This should be a fun grappling affair that I give Bryce the edge in, though I don't know enough about either to be confident in this pick.
Ryan Spann vs. Sam Alvey - I love Sam Alvey, but I reckon a loss in this fight will mean his release from the UFC... Alvey is on a 3 fight skid, and most of his recent wins have been pretty narrow. For a 33 year old guy, he's got a lot of fight-miles on the clock. Spann is the kinda young up-and-coming fighter that will probably outwork Alvey and send him packing.

Don't know why everyone sees Tony as the underdog here lmao. The man literally obliterates everyone in his path and it's hard to believe he wants to lose the chance to fight Khabib, which we all know should've happend a long time ago.

Not really... I'm a big Tony Ferguson fan too, but to say he 'obliterates everyone' is wishful thinking I'm afraid. His fights are generally very close for the first round or 2, but he relies on his conditioning to build up momentum later on. He gets hit a lot and wobbled or dropped fairly often, he's the sorta fighter who struggles early-on against fast starters. Conor and Gaethje are extremely fast starters, so are both difficult matchups for him. Only in rounds 3-5 are they favourable for Tony imo.

Hate to say it, but once Tony gets knocked out (which is only a matter of time for someone with his style), his chin will start to fade and he will start losing a lot more often.

Tony is the most unpredictable fighter in the whole MMA/UFC. Hard to believe Gaethje won't get caught in a random D'Arce Tony will pull out of nowhere like he always does.

I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon... I feel like he still has a lot to give to the sport
