I work with programming almost every day however I myself am not programming as much as someone would think. I am constantly analyzing code for problems, helping others fix their programs or games, oftentimes being able to give a positive input and influences others interests in hopes of rekindling confidence and interests that they had when starting their projects.
The number one thing I've seen with every single person I have ever worked with that has burned more energy than anything else, surprisingly isn't a lack of experience, but a lack of drive.
I have seen dozens upon dozens of projects get thrown away because of not being able to have enough confidence or belief in their creations. This can be modeling, programming, game development, hell even the drafting processes. The number 1 thing I do above all else is when I truly see something I think is great or has a bit of life in it, I formulate words of advice or genuine encouragement to that individual so they may have a chance to continue something they created and once believed in.
Development is can be shithole, it's hard when you're on a schedule and also have to appease shareholders or even the people you work with, you will unfortunately run into a situation where you won't have time to complete something even if it could be a magnum opus for you or your team. It's like that sometimes.
There's geniuses in the world that can really create things by themselves or in tandem with others that are the sole definition of human traction on the internet when it comes to sparking cult classics, often times the reason why they don't get started/continued/finished/released could be soley do to unexpected situations in life, companies owning rights to things not wanting to give people greenlights or outright firing sections of their company to save money.
A note to everyone who is in deep or just getting started in any kind of development,
Do not give up.
You will be your #1 fan, #1 hater, #1 master, and #1 student. Before you think about how others would feel/opinionate towards you or what you're developing, convince yourself first. I promise you when you have the reigns to your own choices and outcomes, you can always travel to the light at the end of any tunnel you dare to tread in.
