Multiple earthquakes decimated basically dozens of buildings across the Venezuelan capital and neighboring parts of it specially the coastal state of Vargas
I'm well and safe since I live in an island which is more to the east from the epicenter, but even I felt it and I had a family member check other properties my family has in the mainland to check for damages (part of my roof in my family home fell months ago so we have structural damage, don't know if it finally caved as I haven't gotten a response yet)
Thanks to the friends that have asked me how I'm doing
I've lost at least a friend that I know in this aftermath. Caved in. My therapist also had to flee from her building due to structural damage, other friends close to the capital aren't answering their phones, this shit has been pretty rough. I wish I was in the state where it happened or at least mainland so I could go and help out and get people out of the rubble.
I'm buying medicine and supplies to send over tomorrow as there are many aid centers across the country because we really need to stick together as a people because the government due to over 20 years of dictatorship have ravaged the infrastructure needed to handle crises like this so we only have each other.
If you'd like to know how to help contact me on discord at @alejandrote
I'll check in with my family to see about me going there to help in person as I've got people close to me that live in the place where this was most affected and this has really impacted me deeply and I want to be the change I'd like seeing in the world
Thank you all for reading and may we persevere dude this shit has been heavy
Getting home just an hour ago I spent the day volunteering and helping out with anything I could buying and sorting medicine categorizing and separating supplies that have been donated etc hauling boxes around
The support has been insane there were trucks upon trucks of boxes full of medicine, survival gear, lanterns, gauze, distilled water, physiologic solution, thanks to all of yall I could get even more supplies and got boxes of painkillers for adults and for kids, boxes of allergy medicine for adults and for kids, saline, a bunch of canned food, clothes, and shoes.
I'll go there tomorrow again and stop to buy a TON of socks, and baby clothing since I could tell we needed more of those
Thank you guys for the comments and for the support I've been contacted privately by a bunch of you giving me strength and I really appreciate it so much
