I also believe a part of it crossed the border into Austria.
Correct, all of it. Slides were hella fun.

And yeah, we did take a short trip to Germany down there. Pretty odd. There was a couple of signs in the tunnel mentioning that we were now crossing the Austria/Germany border.
We also had to wear some fugly safety clothes, but hey, better than having your own clothes get rubbed apart. I felt like a fucking snowman, because it was all white and extremely big. One size fits all and stuff. It also had some brown-ish stains on it, but i'd rather not have to think of how they got there.
At the beginning and end, we also rode some carts into the mine. Noisy and uncomfortable, but it's better than walking.

Yup, they do actually call it the Dachstein Ice Palace. Very beautiful, that palace part, but a lot smaller than you'd think. We were only in there for 30-60 minutes, and we took two rounds during that time. I'm just surprised that they hadn't carved Mozart or Kaiser Franz Josef into the ice, though. =P
An added bonus was that following thunderstorm that we narrowly evaded. Those hails were so big that you could track the individual hails with your eyes, right until it shattered against the windows or the ground. Once again i must state that it would have hurt like hell to be out in. Like getting pelted with small rocks at high speeds. But seeing it from a safe position was pretty awesome.
