Good call, and thanks.

Eh, I would have to imagine that that sort of thin has been tried before. Not that I have done much research, but normally with behavioral issues negative reinforcement is one of the first things tried.

I doubt it, for that to work they would have to keep the person convinced for an entire lifetime. Plus Im sure most people with the illness are told from a very early age that it is something they will have to live with, and that there is no cure. So to convince them otherwise would be very difficult.

Not with medicine we have today. I honestly view the outlook of "we CAN cure everything" as being far more naive. Ala cancer, AIDS, the common cold, etc...
And before anyone starts, I dont care if "THEY have the cures THEY just arent releasing them, so dont go there :P

Of course there are far worse things, but there are also far better and Im guessing most of the people veiwing this have it substantially better than these kids. To not be able to control your body, or voice, would be pretty damn difficult compared to most of our lives.

If you watch the video on youtube, there are 12 videos of this same show about the kids going to camp. Its pretty weird because you see all these kids with these problems, but then they are also just totally normal kids in every other aspect.

I hoped that by that line alone after the first paragraph, would emphasize the other extreme to being able to cure everything without boundries or caution.

I cannot back up my last statement on my previous post, I merely felt like this entire thread is pointless unless the person hosting this thread is trying to raise awareness and or money in hopes for a cure.

Thanatos12, with your "senior member" status, and the fact that you responded to 3 people tells me one of 2 things.

Your trying to go up in posting status...orrrr...your terribly bored and I am entertaining your Internet posting needs.

I expect a response. ;)

If the thread is pointless, go away. Its on a discussion board, granted I posted it in wibbles at like ass early AM, but a good discussion arose from it.

Also, nothing you are saying is really on topic. Maybe try to rephrase it or something, but I have no clue what you mean, and I would like to.

Wow this is really sad.All those kids in a camp for people with touretts. They just blurt out random stuff. That must be really hard.
It sucks that there isnt a cure for it.
People make fun of them for blurting out stuff like " Easy bottom" or some words like "bloody crap"

This is not funny to people who think it is. Hows about you be made fun of by everybody in your school or office.

Yes, if you watch the other parts of the video, a little girl makes a "boop" sound, as well as profanities.

I get herpies take a pill and it's gone, I still have herpies in my system, same with aides, gonarea, clap ect...everyone will have dorment STD's in there system, at that point any mutation could reactivate the possible 4 STD's you once had. This makng you a zombie like creature due to the fact that everything dies inside you at once...

lol, no offense man, but that is not at all how things work :P Granted, antibiotics being over-prescribed has lead to some mutations among flus and things, but STDs are normally a whole different thing, especially herpes and AIDS. Also, tourettes is a brain abnormality and not a bodily illness, probably related to an imbalance of chemicals or a malfunction of a given area of the brain. Something like that cant mutate and is not communicable, so any cure for this, be it a pill or whatever, would be a final cure.

How do you know when it's actually a tic or if it's done on purpose? I'm sure troublesome teens could exploit this, and yell things at leisure and blame it on their condition.

I did watch that video, I was so bored I also watched some other episodes. It was just an idea, I appreciated you proving me wrong, though you could have done do in a calmer manner. I noticed though, that not everyone apologized, only the young 9 year old girl. The rest just went on as though it didn't happen, i'm sure this is because it happens so frequently they're just used to it. This proves I did watch the video, maybe a bit closer than you did also. I'm going to discontinue this conversation with you, because I can't be bothered arguing.

Here are the rest of the vids. Should clear some things up. I guess he only put up 8 vids though :/

Inb4 i make all the internet white knights rage at this post.

Tourettes may be difficult and very sad for the affected and those close to them, but to be honest the concept of the disease is fucking funny. Take, for example the ''if you laugh you are a bad person'' videos of FBT (full body tourettes) sufferers put to music, or the unforgettably funny dude with FBT in crank.

Of course political correctness/people with their heads up their asses will now bawww about how ''it's not funny!!", or "you're an asshole", but to say ''we should not make fun of this'' is just..well.. sad.

Sure, when you encounter people with condtions like this in real life, it's a different matter, but noticed that this was moved out from wibbles to ''prevent people making fun of it''.

Well, I dont think I would find FBT funny, even if it was with music, to me it would be the same as laughing at retarded kids, which I have just never found that funny. Not that people who do are comeplete monsters!!1! or anything, but eh, if retarded people made a choice to be that way, I could laugh, same with FBT.

Verbal tourettes however, Im sorry, in the video when the little girl is explaining how she says "fucking camp" I cant help but chuckle. Or when the one kid bursts out "Jen gives head!" lol, even typing it I laugh. And while it isnt there choice either, and while their life is probably tougher than I could now, its still kinda funny.

But, yeah, like Gynx said, I think the main reason for the move was that something good be gotten from the vid. Im sure if I had posted a mix someone made of this vid, like cutting to "Jen gives head" over and over again with music and flashing colors, Im guessing they would have left it in wibbles.

Some people would probably like verbal tourettes for a week or so. But yeah, I was just trying to say that I can see why someone might laugh and dont think people who do are total dicks (its how many people cope with things that shock or confuse them and Im sure everyone who says "F*CK YOU for laughing" here has probably laughed at someone for something out of that persons control at least a few times) but personally in this case my empathy gets the better of me and I just feel sorry for people, which might be worse, depending on how you look at it.
