Typo, Grammar hunt. 10k TC / finding (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish)
Hi,

I think I found most of the typos and grammatical errors in TB Wii.

10k for each translation you find with a typo or error in it.

Rules:
1. Do not use a translating machine (google translate, babbelfish)
2. Native speakers only
3. 10k will be awarded for a full fix of a translated sentence/word with a typo
4. If a translation contains multiple errors only 10k will be awarded
5. Be meticulous
6. Be accurate
7. I will update the main post with findings so you don't report them twice

Here are the files in two different formats:
http://www.toribash.com/misc/efigs_strings.ods - Open Office
http://www.toribash.com/misc/efigs_strings.xls - Microsoft Office

Report errors like this:
Keyword: CUSTOMIZATION
Language: UK-English
current translation: Customization
problem: misspelling
correct translation: Customisation

Grammar nazis are more than welcome to join.

Good luck!

The second is grammatically correct.

We can ignore this message. It is provided to us by Nintendo.

mains

EU_FRENCH use "stick Directionnel" instead of "levier de contrôle"

Is this correct?
"poussez le stick Directionnel vers le haut ou vers le bas pendant que vous le tenez"
Keyword: TUT_camera3
Language: UK-English US English
current translation: "zoom into the 2 characters."
problem: Gives the impressions of zooming inside the Toris bodies. Also the wording is confusing.
correct translation: "Zoom in on either character."

Keyword: TUT_CAMERA7
Language: UK-English USA-English.
Current translation: Congratulations! Camera control success.
Problem: Camera control success is not a logical sentence.
correct translation: Congratulations! You have mastered the camera
(the correct translation is an approximation, there are lots of options, but that one is less wordy)

Keyword: TUT_JOINT_CHNG3
Language: UK-English USA-English.
Current translation: "A joint can rotate in 2 opposite directions.
Problem: Technically it works, but saying "A joint" is vague and since it is an action it should be written like one.
Correct translation" Each joint can be rotated in 2 opposite directions.

Keyword: TUT_JOINT_CHNG12
Language: UK_English USA_English
Current translation: "Good job! Thats how you control the joints the art of fighting lies in joint rotation."
Problem: Run-on sentence.
Correct translation: Good job!! That's how you control the joints. The art of fighting lies in joint rotation.

Keyword: TUT_BADYROT5
Language: UK-English USA-English
Current translation: "Now lets use your sternum.
Problem: in the previous message it is called "the sternum", switching to "your sternum" is confusing and awkward sounding.
Correct translation: Now lets use the sternum.

Keyword: TUT_DQ5
Language: UK-Englsih USA-English.
Current translation: dojo impact: any bodypart other than hands and feet hit the ground causes disqualification! !!
Problem: Awkward language use.
Correct translation: dojo impact: if any body part other than the hands or feet hit the ground you will be disqualified!! !

Keyword: TUT_DECAP3
Language UK-English USA-English.
Current translation: Awesome! You've caught.. a head!
Problem: Double period. Makes people think it is an ellipses (...) which is used to show either omitted words or trailing off for a short time. Also "a head" gives the impression that there was more than one head that could be caught.
Correct translation: Awesome! You've caught the head!

Keyword: TUT_GHOST9 through TUT_GHOST11
Language: UK-English USA-English.
Problem: All three of these messages say essentially the same thing, in different words.
Correct translation: Either omitting two of them or changing two of them to say something unrelated to the ghost acting as a preview tool (maybe mention that you can customize its color).

Keyword: TUT_FORCED1
Language: UK-English USA-English
Current translation: For more tutorials, go to tutorial under main menu
Problem: go to should be select.
Correct translation For more tutorials, select tutorial under main menu

That's all I found on a first scan. A lot of them are barely mistakes, but you asked for meticulousness, and from experience I can say that it is always noticeable when non-native English speakers write the words in a game. Usually because of mistakes that only a native speaker would be likely to catch...plus I'm getting thousands of dollars in debt to study this sort of thing :P so when I want to be I can do ok with it.

Ok, I am going through the last translations of this thread.

Meanwhile we got complaints about some translations. I've posted a thread about it here:
http://forum.toribash.com/showthread.php?t=166872
This one is still incorrect in french

"show my friend code" - "afficher les codes de mes amis"

Now the french version says "check the codes of my friends". It should mean show my own friend code.

Thanks a lot. I've sent you another 20k.
