Texas rewriting books
Hooray! Looks like for the next 10 years American kids won't learn about who the hell Thomas Jefferson is, and instead learn about John Calvin (a French pastor and theologian from 1500's). And that's just one of many brilliant changes Texas muscled into public school curriculum...

Texas is a market leader in school-textbook industry.
A lot of states will be using those books.

The world IS affected by America. Just look at the recession. We had a recession, and the rest of the world felt it. Just because we've been having some tough times doesn't mean we're not a world power any more.


Now, i doubt this particular event will go farther than Texas, but you still need top realize that America IS in the top 5.

I think he meant that our textbooks wont affect the rest of the globe. Which is true, unless you count that this would make Americans only that much more likely to be idiotic, out of touch douche bags who will continue to make the rest of the world lol and rage at how dumb many of us are when we vacation in their cities.

Well, for example, you're convinced that we have any reason or right to irresponsibly overpopulate and exhaust our planet's resources until we are forced to expand into outer space and do the same to another innocent planet.

Reason? We are here, and we need energy. That seems like a pretty good reason. I'm neither for mindless reproduction (read my procreation topic) nor for wasteful use of resources - but that's just how things are atm.

I believe, quite firmly, in letting natural selection authorize reality so that the ecology of the world can support us indefinitely.

Let me draw it out for you:
We live on a small wet rock which is floating in lethal vacuum among many asteroids and comets, just 1 of which is enough to wipe us out like some stinky mold on a piece of cheese.

Even without random catastrophes, Earth will inevitably be destroyed as soon as the sun becomes a red dwarf. If humanity is to survive, we'll need to haul our ass to other places.

And don't worry so much about us exhausting other planets - chances are by that time we'll have developed much much more efficient energy-harvesting methods.

What excuse do humans have to act so dominant? jsut because we CAN? and if we all used THAT excuse, we might as well just eat each other in the streets, BECAUSE WE CAN.

Seriously?
Can + want = do.
I don't think devouring each other is very desirable.

Let me ask you this, what purpose could be served by censoring information if not to indoctrinate people and brainwash them to your own will?

Errr - I'm only arguing about the whole tree-hugging thing here. Look who started this topic ffs.
