Yes after that, if you find your self in a night mare, you can turn it into a lucid dream but thinking to your self "this is ridiculous, I can fix this" and solve for X.

But don't think too hard or you will wake up.
Oh yeah like that time I rolled out of bed laughing. Come to think of it, I don't really remember the rolling so much as hitting my bed side table with my face.

Now I keep the table a good meter away from my bed just incase it happens again.

@Malvie: I will be sure to try it. Though when I had surgery, as I was being anesthetized the nurse said to imagine that I was on a tropical island. All I could think of was a tiny patch of sand surrounded by sea with a single tree on it. The dream did not last long. Maybe it was because they were cutting my ear open, I don't know.

You can achieve a lucid state during a dream by simply going back to the start and do different things.

Other ways that are more specific include reassembling your dream and manually putting it back togather, like reversing it instead of resetting it.
Yosup.

I'm pretty sure i've had a lucid dream before, it was kinda short but I was in my front yard, and some big fuck off thing tried to kill me so I ran down the side of my house and got a fright from another big fuck off thing and woke up. I don't have dreams these days, gutting.

I have my doubts about that. I suspect that retaining consciousness 24/7 will end up in you being extremely tired.

I don't think that sleep schedule is a good thing to combine with your new lucid dreaming tactic. It just seems like two things that were never meant to be done at the same time by a single person.

Though if it works, then your dream journal would be the best of all time.
