Hi, this thread is an idea I had and decided to give a shot. The thread will have no central topic, but will intstead be used as a sort of dumping ground for all the side discussions that come from the main threads. The goal is to keep the main threads on topic, while still giving people a place to disscuss things that might not warrant their own, new thread.

Example: Let's pretend you are posting in a thread about Dinosaurs, when at some point the discussion shifts to the etymology of the word jurassic. You have many things to say on where the word comes from, but if you post them where you are you risk derailing the topic at hand. You could make a new thread, but a whole thread on such a specific topic would not last very long, and if it was narrow enough would most likely be closed.

That is where this thread comes in. Instead of posting your long text, only to have someone say "keep on topic d-bag", you can link to this thread and continue the side discussion here. Maybe you could mark the post, so that if more than one aside was taking place at once, things would stay organized.

A sample post to let people know you are posting here might say "I really want to disscuss this, go to "this thread link" and look for a {:} at the top of my post.

For this to work, ideally this thread will be stickied, so if any mods see this and like the idea, please sticky it. I've tried to explain it as best as I could, but if there are any questions, just ask.
