Toribash irc
What are you opinions on irc? Do you think people are too rude? Or do you think that noob goblins ask for it by acting like idiots? Either way, what do you think could be done to make irc a better place?
Personally I don't go on irc much, and when I have been on I haven't ever really been bothered. However I'm not 15 and saying something everyone considers stupid or something (granted I say enough stupid shit to build a house with), so my experience might not be the rule, but the exception. I know I have seen people get lit on fire, and that sort of thing has kind of kept me from trying too much to get involved regular irc use, I just don't like it and to me personally there has always seemed to be this sort of club mentality to it all. Basically irc reminds me too much of highschool.

Now, as for my opinion, IRC's always been a bit more exclusive than, say, the forums. There's a definite subculture of sorts established, and newcomers are usually treated as such. I think it would definitely help if people came in and acted like respectable adults, but let's face it: that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.
We've got nice channels set up for people who need help, and they can always make their own clan channels, but I'd say that people are making the mistake of trying to jump right into the thick of #toribash and get accepted right off the bat.
My advice-that-will-probably-not-be-taken: Start off slowly - introduce yourself nicely when you join for the first time, lurk a bit and see how things happen, then see if you can integrate. Don't jump in, flail around wildly, and then wonder why you get trolled/kicked/banned/trolled.
yeah, #Toribash. I have seen a lot lately about people getting made fun of and such, so I was curious.
I can see how that would happen Hanzo, and actually after some thought I realized that this sort of thing is pretty natural, and surely some of them did have good reason. I will say that it is unrealistic to expect kids to act like adults though.
My main reason for posting this is that I have been thinking about how this sort of thing affects Toribash as a business. But then I dont know if the goal is to have TB become popular or to have it remain as more a niche game.

IRC. Mountain that I can't climb without Google Translator open in the background. When u are bad in English IRC can be double inapproachable. I'll rather hide behind this non-real-time talking. Here I can think more before I write, on IRC its just: G-g-g-g-g.... :}
Fun things happen in IRC, I like it there. Also there is a lot of talk about computers and scripting and stuff. I've been in #toribash for like 2 years. You really need to take some time to fit in, I really don't fit in still, probably because of my former immaturity, now that I type with full words, proper grammar etc. people started respecting me more it seems, or just don't make fun of me as much :P
