It's a legitimate question to discuss whether or not this board has become to informal. For those of you who don't remember or weren't around for it, the debate board was deleted several months ago was held to very high levels of maturity and formality else posts would either be deleted or infracted.

Of course, I am not expecting this same level of formality this discussion board; however, this board is suppose to be where "Serious talk" occurs. I find it inappropriate to see posts such as "You mean delaying women becoming terrifyingly ugly when they age past 30?" in a serious thread about the controversial topic of a male sex pill or a post like "Lets go back to the bible and see what jebus says. ROFL" in a thread about the stoning of iranian women.

So I am curious to hear what the general habitants of these boards have to say about the quality of the posting in these boards.

i dont know there just doesnt seem to be very much that i care about in discussion, it seems to be lacking good material to discuss.

Post good material to discuss, then.

It can be fixed or punished if it's too harsh.

I preferred debating. It gave me something to share and talk about.

The discussion board is very open to topics. It is, well, a discussion board. There is nothing in the discussion guidelines against topics of discussion.

I don't think you can even contend that real discussion isn't going on in this thread as we speak.

Red: Your conversation with BenDover sparked an idea which I don't know is able to be implemented but I sure as hell know it would be useful to help the workload of said mod who would ever be asked nicely to look over a debate thread. How about giving the debate tag more authority? Or even better, much like topics had to be approved once submitted in the debate thread, we could do the same with any thread labelled and tagged "Debate". That tag should indicate a level of formality that was held as a standard in the old debate board.

If anything I think it has gotten, and has been for a while, too serious. I know we have rapid threads, but come on, bitches need to lighten up.

agreed. I used to love the discussion board the way it used to be moderated. These days everyone gets so serious and anal about it. Sometimes a one word or image based reply is much more entertaining, concise and informative than a poorly written wall of pretentious text.

To those who complain about the lack of controversy in Discussion:
feel free to make controversial threads. A lot of the most polarizing topics have already been discussed numerous times though, so if you do a repeat at least make a substantial, good quality post.
