Global Illumation how the fuck does it work.
Well...Basically, global illumination makes the lights more realistic, it makes light bounce, better reflections, color light transfer and so on. You enable it at Render settings (Go to effect... and open it). You should put a sky light there, and the problem is that there is no preset sky light, so you have to create one yourself, but easier, you can try just putting some lightbox above them (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgEOIldlh5s), and that'll help you pretty much. From what I've been, global illumination works better with materials with luminance on, not just normal lights
Backgrounds How do you put background textures?
You can only put a background there, but if you put a tori in, for example, it won't have any shadows on the grounds or on walls.
To get a proper background with shadows on floor, first off, you make a floor, then a background. Then, you create a new material, it could be white or black or whatever you want (In your case you can try putting an image on the texture, go to color, and there's a place there where you put a texture, select a photo and put that in). Then, you put the same texture to the background and the floor. Next up, you rightclick on the floor and background objects, and go to CINEMA 4D tags, and select COMPOSITING, and put that tag on both, then, you click on the tag and you'll have there a box you have to check called "Compositing background" You enable that on both. And you should have a background with a floor and I recommend you to fit in the perspective as it is from the photo. [If the texture shows bad on the floor, you click on the material, and change the projection to frontal].
Also, if you have for example a wall and a tori leaning on the wall, you can put a cube there, put it in the wall's place, put the same texture on it, compositing, compositing background, change the projection to frontal.
Oh, and one tip, if you're planning on doing reflections, enable the reflection on the material, but put it to opacity 5%, then add a fresnel texture and put that to 5% also
Hope you understood something, if you want a C4D file from the ones I made so you examine it, just ask.

Okay, spent a little much to make this one, it still has some things to fix but I think it's good enough to be posted:
The jumper = Mocucha
Guys on bench = Thepitcher, Me (Oopyuman)
Guy walking = Furryprints
Other guys are just...nonexistent (Except for uke)
