Beer discussion thread
So I decided this board needs a beer thread, not only for discussion of how much we love beer, but to suggest good beers in different categories and for different tastes. For example: I prefer dark beers, stouts, porters, amber-ruby ales, and so forth.

I like a malty sweetness backed by between a flick and a punch of bitterness.

Some of my favorites: fade to black by left hand brewery, kilty pleasure by philadelphia brewing co, holiday porter by sam adams.

I could use some good suggestions to try, I live in the states so something available here would help.
My favorite for the summer days is blue moon, unfiltered witbier, nice orange/citrus flavor, and I usually put a lime in too.

Update: tried the flying mouflan from troeggs brewery, it's right up my alley. Sweet and bitter and hoppy. Damn it's good. And a little over 9% alcohol by volume. I think I'll even pick up a growler of it when next I'm around Harrisburg, pa, if I can get up there before the season for it ends.

I like your taste in beer my man, im quite partial to dark and bitter types of ale myself although i like lighter ones to mix in because refreshing taste. Black Douglas is a nice dark bitter ale (read as light does not penetrate) if its followed by a lighter one such as old speckled hen or fursty ferret it makes for a tasty evening.

im not sure how readily available they are in America, but they are pretty common here in the UK. Makes me sad that i cant find Black Douglas very often.

I've seen old speckled hen, I'll pick some up to contrast with my dark favorites. seems like a winning strategy. i'll look for black douglas too, never seen it but I haven't been looking

I just tried bellhaven scottish ale and their stout, I must say that the head on those beers is flawless. It's like being massaged by a cloud on the upper lip, to say nothing of how easy drinking they both are. I also really liked the milk stouts by left hand brewery, both nitro and not are excellent. The nitro is a little easier drinking and keeps the head longer. I also had the pleasure of indulging in a gulden draak. Too expensive for a daily beer, but it sure was nice. Deep dark and mysterious, great if you want to try something a little different.
I do love nitrogenated beer, something about the extra creamyness makes them quaffable and rich in mouth-feel. Also, an update: last time I was out I tried Old Rasputin and Duvel. the rasputin was much more along my lines, the duvel was golden delicious and creamy the only problem was the excessive breadyness. Rasputin was deep, a bit bitter, and had character. Bit harder to drink than expected, it almost overpowered my wild boar, but against a really rich meaty dish like liver, it would fare better.

I hope they serve this where you're from.
I'm not going to spoil anything, just try it.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a spot where I can try the drinks you talked about.

Duvel is nice, i also recommend golden drakk.
bannana bread beer is something worth trying, its amazingly tasty.
it sucks to live outside of europe for this reason, so I try to taste as many good beers as I can when I go there.
So far, the best i've had was Franziskaner 2 years ago.

There are some bars here that specializes in selling imported beers.
But it's limited in variety and fucking expensive (10$ a bottle sometimes)
