Learning to Relax
I've been toying around with learning how to fight relaxed for the past few months, but not much has really come of it, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions that might help me out.

The attached replay is my current best relaxed singleplayer attempt, and while I like it, it's not as good as it could be. I'm quite bad at conserving my momentum while relaxed, and I hear that it's pretty much key to fighting effectively with a relaxed style.

If anyone has any tips that could help me improve, or point me in the right direction, I'd be very greatful.

Also, let me know what you thought of the replay, I was rather entertained by it.

I'm still trying to master the art of relaxing, and i'm afraid I'm one of those RA members who doesn't relax as much as he should ;p

I am working on it though.

This thread helped me a lot in understanding why relaxing was great. It should be interesting for all who wants to learn the way of relaxing.

Lapsus keep to the ground, it helps you alot to gain momentum, easily manouvre, move around, as you'll be able to push yourself off the ground anytime. It's also good skills exercise to avoid dq. So "if you wanna rock, you gotta be as heavy as one". Flying makes people be like tossed stones, and that is - be generally hopeless, and easy to predict their landing place.
Good thing is actually to concentrate on chest/pecs and hips in the first "tier" of learning to relax fight. Try setting opposite forces every each turn (so for example first turn all torso twists right, the other turn chest and pecs twist left, etc.). If you want to monitor your relax level feel free to post your replays somewhere on our forums, we'll try to help, also RAsta thread might be a good options if you are also interested in wushu.
Junt, it might not be that relaxed in the past in this clan, and I know it was kinda funny when we had almost none relaxer, but those times are gone and they were all are "forced" ;p to relax fight. Maybe except SuperJoJo cause he rox in hold ;).
There's a "RA- rule" which says you should relax all every turns beginning, if you really want to play relaxed, before setting joints anew. This way you won't have now forces that you used last turn (that will possibly only restrain your movement this turn), for that second when you look at your ragdoll in relax-all state you could also take a quick look where your joints are going already (they got speed and/or rotation from previous turns, which you can use to increase speed/rotation or execute some crazy move using the speed/rotation from the previous turns), and relaxing all every turn's beginning generally help you move more fluidly. Try use as little forces as possible, and no holds, or one or two held joints max.
Observing relaxed players' moves works as well, but try never to copycat, and absolutely never - on multiplayer >.> use people's moves as a reference. I hope this "reminder" didn't get too complicated, I'll shut up nao, unless asked to answer some further questions or give further advise >.>.

if u want to look relaxed on sp replays, choose a frame rate, like 20 frames, or 40 frames etc (i'll call it X), depending on how much u'd like too look relaxed, and relax all the joints every X frames, then watch what ur tori and put only the forces u need to make him move the way u want, like sahee said.
In ur replay u leave some useless force applied, like elbows and knees after the hit.

A "cheap" relaxing is to force/hold what you want, but relax knees and elbows, (so they can naturally bend under your weight, when you're reaching for the ground, giving you chance to easily push yourself off the ground next turn - like in wushu), or any "loose parts", joints that end yehr body, like wrists, ankles, neck.
That's an easy trick to make you look more relaxed... somehow, but that's still not "it" ;].

Swing brother, swing. Thats the best advice I can add to this already very helpful thread. Your replay has a lot of potential in it, I have found that relaxing allows for more powerful hits, but it has a lot to do with timing, knowing when to extend a knee as it swings toward its target. But Im sort of a noob to all this, so your probably better off readin some of the previous posts.
