I agree with Tinerr that the GM's are doing a good job right now. I wasn't around back around this time you're talking about but I think the forum is just fine with the rules it has right now. It just takes time to read them and that also shows you focus, patience and diligence.

As for the little letters about Deuteria: I think Deuteria is doing a good job. He's just enforcing the things that he should be. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't blame the messenger.

Well.. GM's do their best but the events don't seem... fun at all. (no offense azuremage)

PT had the best events they could think of.
The art express was a great idea.
They had REALLY FUN EVENTS!

and who said everyone was following the rules all the time? i think people probably broke the rules more then, rather than now.

as for bringing back the promoteam, nah. as i did say in another thread i think theme months/events should be brought back, since new ideas can be made for that. but that's about the only old thing that could be brought back and do well.

i don't see how saying 'we should make better events!' is actually helping making any actual events. if you have some good ideas for events maybe you should share them with some of the gamemasters and perhaps they can bring your ideas to life. or better yet, host them yourself. this is a community right? users can make cool events too without having to rely on the people appointed to do it, to uh.. do it

I still think ToriBash is fun, and the community surrounding it is still pretty entertaining IMO. It may have changed, with events like the death of shitpost island (aka wibbles), but it's definitely for the better if anything. I think that the community has gotten a bit more serious and stuff, but you can always read down the HoS to get your daily dose of idiocracy and silliness.

Oh and about the events team thing, totally agree with what Mwah said, if you're complaining that no one is coming out with good events - make one yourself.
