Quitting (TC Reward &/or Penalty)
This is a 2nd suggestion that I've been wanting to post for a while, I've talked about this in game very frequently and everyone usually seems to want this also.

This involves a few different ideas, so please read all of it before choosing your opinion.
(this does not apply to tournament servers)

So the first idea is of course letting a player have the 10tc reward or at least 5 when their opponent quits after the game is at half or later. People quit very frequently just for the sole purpose of not allowing others to get the reward, only because they hate losing.

At the same time, there could also be a small TC deduction of 2-5 from the quitter, giving a much greater reason not to go spec or disconnect when they're about to lose.

With this in mind, it could become a server setting to enable/disable TC rewarding in general or even just the TC deduction, making this enabled on the public servers and optional on player created servers (to the creator of the server of course).

Of course I'm not inquiring to do all of this, only take what you want from it.

On a side suggestion, it would be good to add a 'report' button in-game that would link people to the IRC and direct them to use #support and find a GM if they have the proof.

Thanks for reading, I hope some of these suggestions can be considered

Well clearly the game already distinguishes between disconnecting and crashing, it was pretty implied that they wouldn't get any deduction if that's the case.

How so? If, as I mentioned, they only get the reward if the opponent quits after the 2nd half of the game, regular farming would still be easier.

You're expediting the process of farming by making games that usually end in 3 turns from DQ now end in 2 turns from "ragequitting".

You're also making the process to spot and punish farmers harder. When someone plays an exuberant amount of games, we see this so easy and quickly and act on it if it's appropriate to do so. Your new idea is only going to create more work for those trying to find and ban farmers.

DrHax, if that's the case than this could be only enabled in the public servers disregarding the server setting option.

As I said you can take only a portion of what I suggested if it's worth it.

Logging on right now, I saw 10 Public rooms that I or anyone else that is 3rd Dan + could log into that's completely empty. An empty public server is just as easy to exploit as a private server. You could make 1 joint adjustment, spam space, then on the 4th turn or whatever, ragequit. Reboot, redo it again. And it's something that'd be super easy to make automatic.

We've basically decided that due to the nature of Toribash, it's easier to punish quitters without it being abusable than reward those who stay without it being abused. That's why there's an ELO penalty for ragequitting.

I get your point but It's easy to self DQ in just 2 turns anyway, so I still really think this wouldn't make that big of a difference in farming.

In any case, this is also why I suggested that the person who doesn't quit can get only 5 TC rather than the 10 they'd get in a normal win. This would make using this for farming pay off way less than the regular farming.
The sarcasm won't help your point. It's usually easily distinguished as it even shows differently in the chat.
The problem was that people could force their pings, that's why there's still an elo deduction.
You just explained how they're distinguishable. If it's a crash or any sort of unexpected disconnect it shows as ping or no response. If it's a regular disconnect it just says 'disconnected. quit game'
