After checking your watch, you take a deep breath, close your umbrella, and enter the pub. The location of the rendezvous had to be inconspicuous. It doesn’t take long for you to scan the small gathering and locate your contact. A black haired male in a brown overcoat sitting at a table, leaning back in his chair with a drink. His eyes are... shifty. He turns and looks at you for a couple of seconds until his expression turns steely. You almost scowl; there's a difference between being inconspicuous and looking suspicious.
It's a surprise that he even got out of training. Good thing this is just a brush pass.
He pulls out your syndicate’s calling card from his sleeve—a blank, purple slip. Hoax. He’s the one. On the way to the barstools, you bump into his shoulder and discreetly drop the intel into his lap. Muttering an apology, you continue to the bar and order a scotch.
It’s all executed perfectly. You do this for a living, after all—you and all the others. You are Hoax, the trick that has everyone fooled.
