[TA] | {New Technique Development} | Under de-construction
Thanks to Stazis for creating our awesome new logo

Greetings, so in this thread we can talk about all the technical stuff in aikido and work together on developing new techniques!

Do not post without the intent to contribute to an ongoing [TA] study.
We suggest new members only read.

Here is some inspiration video of what we should strive to achieve at some point!

Snap Kick Study
Pages: 17,18
Key Posts: Aquita monkeyishi
Summary: Predicatable, risky, and all too common opener that holds the bonus chance of dismembering a limb.
Can be easily countered by carefully catching the kick or blocked with a kick check or lowered arm.
When kicking you should aim for weakspots like the armpit, or where the chest and lumbar connect.

BJJ Style Study
Pages: 19-21

Pulling guard can slow the fight down and put the oppenent in unfamiliar/unpredicatable hold.
Top Pressure is very effective in finishing and immobolizing a downed opponent.
Joint-locks will be further developed in their own study.

You demonstrate how different it can be by showing it to people, not forcing them to use the technique YOU prefer/want.

lmao wtf is that xD

Leg sweep is basically turning your legs into a pendulum where you contract your balancing hip and then sweeping your opponent up by extending your other hip, then throw them over and pinning them.
Firstly, I'd like to point out that you aren't FORCED to always not contract wrists. But just like in TW if you want to achieve a tier you must show you're competent and capable or playing without any advantages and that you can actually play well under certain conditions. After you achieve your tier you can do whatever the hell you like (in TW people just comeback anyways because it's fun). So if you want to contract wrists after you get T1 then go ahead.

Secondly, I'd also like to point out that the best players in the mod actually don't contract wrists. Watch for players like Tman, SainTD and players such as themselves. To counter contracted wrists with a relaxed/extended/held wrist opener, simply grab their actual wrist joint or they forearms. What happens is that they can't use their wrists at all and you'll end up forcing their elbows to dq from too much force. It's just another tactic and you'll feel like much more of a better player if you succeed.

snake is simply trying to broaden your horizons and teach Team Aikido members how to play with more finesse and fairplay. No one else helped him in doing the tiers, so how should he know what you want out of it?
He did say that suggestions are welcome for different requirements/skillsets for each tier and how you can rank up by playing either way.

Going back to my first point, if someone can define a new set of skills/requirements for tiers, then you can play however you'd when you apply to any tier (contracted wrists and the works).
Suggestions are always very welcome, so please, get involved with the org and help out.

I doubt you'd be able to join Team Aikido because of getting DMs. ;d Good players are shown by their impressive saves and their movement/counters, not by getting dismemberments/decaps (although sometimes dismemberments/decaps can be funny in aikido ;d ).

wat is this flailing and why are you grabbing the same wrist with both hands

your left arm is literally useless

anyway i have this replay from a 10k duel a month or so ago

i like leg sweeps because they r powerful, effective, and hard as hell to counter in a ton of situations, unlike most throws

not exactly a fluid or orthodox leg sweep but cool nonetheless, mostly because imo nothing is cooler than styling on a kid who's trying hard to win

we all have life and job, and we all want to have fun

I dont care about having to pull your fancy moves just to move up in a org I have been a part of for quite a while. I still use the crappy decap that Fachry used to use just for the luls, because Its funny and I enjoy it.

nobody is forcing you to pull off fancy moves to be in org, but it's required to know how to do it if you want to rank up

Sure this org is about Improving and being better players and learning, but I dont believe anyone should be forced into a certain style of play, creativity and freedom are two key concepts of Toribash and Aikido.

indeed, consider these as challenges to complete,

creativity is exactly what this all about. if you know other way to make people try new things and develop their own - i'm all ears, this is exactly what i try to achieve.
basing org on average skill level (lift kicks, wrists and other average boring stuff) does not give anyone an incentive to try and play other aikido-like mods besides abd 24/7 and try something new instead of spamming lift kicks, contracting wrists and other average boring stuff.

Sure, Plenty of people are going to lift or shovel, Stop crying and learn to counter. FFS, Hold All if that makes you happy and you have fun playing like that.

nobody is crying except people who don't want to learn new things and yet to be top tier.
if you have an idea how to encourage players to get better, i'm all ears

Anyway... That was like 10 000 Cents of rubbish, But just play the game and have fun

Edit: also wtf is up with paying for Ranks and waiting 4 weeks and all that stuff. This is a org, not a business
where does tc for events comes from?

here

also, listen to holo, he is good in explaining things

also this x100 times

Where does it mention that he tells you to shut the fuck up? If I recall correctly, he is "all ears" to suggestions on how to improve the new system.
Calm your tits.

He is leader, with Neko and Kingsta. He is also the 'work horse' that is trying ever so politely to get this organization back on its feet. Without snake, this org would still be dead (or mumbling in its sleep or whatever). If you wanna be the guy to kill it, shame on you. Before the merge there was only a few posts per week, now look at the sudden activity, isn't that a good thing? At least now it's headed out of port and sailing the seas in search of new things.

You've been asked multiple times to: Remove the bushido, remove paying for ranks, remove waiting for ranks, etc etc.

Did you even read my post at all?
He is listening to suggestions to improve the new system. Taking it down would be a going in the wrong direction. Of course he cares about his own 'ideals' and how he plays aikido, how the heck is that plain bullshit? I think you meant the whole 'forcing' to play his way. You should probably read my post again.

Again, as I mentioned above, removing stuff is going in the wrong direction.
1. Removing bushido? If you can't play bushido style, that's fine. It's not easy. But removing it? Uh no, the merge was to increase activity and save 3 orgs from dying, and it did. As snake said to you and to everyone else, if you have a suggestion on different skills/requirements for each tier, he would be glad to hear it. So please, if you can think of anything that would be good for generic aikido play for each tier, tell us!
2. Remove paying for ranks? Think of it as a donation for future TA events. It's not even that expensive to begin with. If you're in TA then you must be good at aikido, no? Go win a few aikido tourneys.
3. Remove waiting for ranks? As much as we love the sudden burst of activity, we don't want spam. Having to wait for ranks means that if you are determined enough to pass, you'll spend the time getting better and increasing your skills. Being impatient is lame, not everything is about ranking anyways.

PS. Don't take anything that we say as insulting to you personally. We're not your parents. Retaliating with insults isn't the way to go.
