[VID] ToriHero: Test Footage

Ok so ToriVerse was a failure and was canceled, because i realized i took on too large of a challenge with so little help. So i'm starting a new with another project called ToriHero. Sort of a Superman Styled theme, it's going to be a series of 5 minute long episodes. I'm looking for people to cast in it. Pm me if your interested. (Im also looking for mod makers to help with small scenes, like rooms or realistic buildings.)

(Ignore that incredibly loud and choppy beginning audio, that was a mistake. just focus on the footage.)

I know my flight physics are very amateur (especially in that last scene), and I'm working on that, in future test footage.

If your interested in working with me on this then Skype me at matarikaTB or Pm me.

uh what do you want cnc on again?
you want us to ignore the sound
but the visuals is just your tori standing there :/
Don't really understand what this is?

It was just your tori standing in a pose with a splash of effects but I hope this um tori hero thing works out for you
oxisudofrenohypoglycemolicodin
btw there isn't one scene where i used a standing tori, all flying scenes i actually made the tori fly changing the gravity in game settings, so the tori is actually moving on a green background, no just a "still tori"

"It was just your tori standing in a pose"

"the visuals is just your tori standing there "

In every single scene i used, the tori is flying in the actual game, not once did i use just a plane standing tori. For the parts where the tori is hovering, i put him in the air, and changed gravity to 0, so he's suspended in a 0 gravity environment.

and even if i did use a standing tori for it all, what would that matter? Because it still gives the appearance of flying. Like in actual movies, where heroes fly, their just suspended by a string and air is blown at them and as d3noth u said..

What if i went to go see that hollywood blockbuster Man of Steel and thought it was stupid because the whole movie consist of him on suspended wires and harness and wind being blown at him, infront of a green backdrop? No who cares because it, looked like flying and gave that illusion once the "splash of affects" were added.

tori standing in a pose with a splash of effects <- its not very different from that in actual movies where they fly

So i guess i have to spoon feed you guys, When i say don't Cnc the sound, but Cnc the footage, I'm talking about the concept, and how it was exectuted visually, don't be naive and have such a 2D way of thinking, think of it on each angle and perspective. And D3noth i gave u a whole paragraph explanation of "what this is"

But let me ask you something, if you know a magicians tricks does that still make the trick any less impressive? I don't think so, i mean making someone disappear is still looks cool, even if u do know that they sneak away under someones legs. I mean why try to figure how i did it, and focus on the illusion I'm trying to make and images i am trying to portray.

How do you suppose i get better without any real Cnc from another artists point of view. Some people come in here with no understanding of what i did in this video, and because they don't understand, before they actually say anything smart and helpful they must do two things.

1) give some explanation to how i did it

2) belittle the video saying "Oh you just did that" or "oh you just did this, no big deal, put some effort into your work."

Both you two obviously don't know how i did the things in this video, so you have no authority to judge it upon some crazed assumption. People with real experience and intuition in this area should be the ones Cncing here. Like Sly Kuiper, Mocucha, DatSkip, Augans, and heck maybe even Tyzi (Sometimes their words sound harsh, but it at least tells me what I'm doing wrong) Not what ever you two call yourselves.

/shitstormactivate

Does it matter that me/d3guy dont edit? not really.
Does it matter that your tori was in 0 gravity? no? stil looked static as hell, almost no point in bringing that up
You just wanted cnc, for your tori hovering in the air with nothing other than some cheesy music you told us to ignore, Dont know what you really want.
unless you want cnc on the camera movement,
good job I guess?
For the second time, i said i wanted cnc on the idea/Concept

and to slykuiper, thanks for some quality Cnc, and yea it will be a lot of work, but thats why i hope to have help from mod makers, video makers, and just people who want to play parts.

See the problem is that people -view- that your tori is standing still even though as you said he isn't. It doesn't matter how you do it, if it ends up looking the same, to the viewer, it is the same.

and even if i did use a standing tori for it all, what would that matter? Because it still gives the appearance of flying. Like in actual movies, where heroes fly, their just suspended by a string and air is blown at them and as d3noth u said..

That is a good point - However you can really improve on how you work everything out. As Sly said everything looks really cheesy and there isn't a very effecient way of motion tracking in toribash yet

But let me ask you something, if you know a magicians tricks does that still make the trick any less impressive?.

Yes, actually, it does make it less impressive. I understand what you're trying to say but that's a bad analogy.

Anyways, on to actual cnc

The first bit was eh, the tori launched up way too slowly

0:05 looked actually decent

0:06 Not so much, would have been better if you moved the background a bit less for a bigger parallax effect

0:11 What were you even doing, that linear kind of panning + weird black and white to colour thing made no sense

At 0:16 you can try to move the tori in the game instead of just taking a picture of it, cutting it out then animating it. It'll look far more realistic (You can also give the tori an initial thrust downwards and set the gravity to something positive which gives you the slowing down effect you're looking for)

As you said the last part wasn't very realistic

What I suggest is to cut down on the "third person" kind of camera view and try more of the angles where the camera is stationary but panning to follow the Tori as he goes past, then add a crapton of motion blur. I think that'll look better
I do some videos
Feel free to PM me for any video-related questions
I think everything is already said.

You should use movie sequences as backgrounds to get more animation instead of simple pictures.

You should watch real movies about what you are trying to do like superman, iron man, spider man, etc. then see how actors moves during they are "flying" to give the illusion that they are really flying, they don't just stand like a plank ;) When you are on the ground, make him moving arms and legs to give the impression that he gives an impulsion.

Anyway the making mistakes, i enjoyed the video for the creativity and ideas you bring there.

Good luck for the rest, do not give up, it is a good experience to do.

your ideas and concepts aren't bad

the execution is where you lack, but don't let that stop you. i'm entirely okay with you bombarding us with concepts and ideas because, with practice, you'll eventually figure something out. once you do, you'll put plenty of video makers who choose to stick with the norm to shame.

i personally liked scene 0:07 to 0:10, but it did feel a little stiff and stale too me, the the scenery was pretty great

i do like the use of backgrounds even though they don't really fit, atmosphere mods would be your best bet considering tori's live in a world of blocks and spheres.

genuinely excited to see what you do

So true. It is easy to perform when you do the same thing as the others, each time you want to inovate you take a risk and this is the only way to progress.
