Zelda, Redundant - I've been planning an event for Discussion (since it's always going to be fairly inactive). Formal type debates (affirmative vs negative), people register 3-man teams, compete over a season. The only issue would be gettting people to participate, so that means giving people a lot of incentives. I've been told my first port of call would be to contact the GM's for sponsorship. There are other places we can go to for funding, but I've been recommended to try them first. Before I do go to them, what are both of your thoughts?

@Hawke - 30 degrees + 70% humidity here again - shit's srsly fked - been like this for weeks.
It stopped snowing. It's now 70 deg every day. Virginia has some bipolar weather. Someone get it on some birth control pills or something.
Chickster: I literally don't know why I did it.
Insane <3 He's my fav person and zelda too. ;O

Yeah. He was nice enough to make it for me. My previous one was good, but dang insane knows art.

Yeah it looks great. Makes me want to get my VIP soon. I'll probably have it by the end of next week. Going to some 'Back 2 School' party at my uni bar tonight. Gonna have to wear my old school uniform. At least there'll be some ladies in schoolgirl outfits.
Ele and I have been thinking.
Community service time, guys. The S&I board is full of stupid/vague/unhelpful posts, and so barely anything gets accomplished. I am heavily involved with the board, so I want to sort it out. We as a group will help out by putting together a plan for reform that we'll bring to the S&I mods.

The Plan:

Current problems:
- Inactive/slacking lmods
- Poor post quality (in general)
- Discussion doesn't advance ideas - negative posts that don't do anything to improve the idea
- OP lacks potential for idea development

Fixes to problems:
- Inactivity:
S&I work tends to grind down the motivation of new lmods, leaving them inactive after a few months. To implement any plan for reform, we're going to need active lmods that know the go. Clear out any inactive/poor lmods and replace them with people who want to get the job done.
- Poor post quality + Discussion doesn't advance ideas
Enforce the pre-existing rules + Skul's post guide. Include rules that specify that posts *must* not shoot down an idea without including some way to improve it. For a board devoted to the development of ideas, there should be no criticism without constructivity.
- OP lacks potential for idea development
Write a 'How to make a suggestion' post and sticky it. It should include advice on structuring suggestions and how to meet all of the standards that the board expects.

That's what we've got for now. We need your help to make this better. Are there any other problems with the S&I board, or do you see any other solutions to the problems, if so, please ask.

They aren't bad people, but not much is really getting done.

I just really want ideas getting implemented instead of thrown out the window. It would be cool having glowing body parts.

I know. I'm not asking you all to become moderators, but improve the ideas wether it has something to do with mods or not.

We could have the community come up with the ideas and refine them, and then the S&I mods decide when the idea's ready to send through to be posted on a special private board/S&A board for approval + implementation. A two-tier approach - the first tier being idea creation and refinement (deciding what the community wants), the second tier being further discussion, a yes/no vote and implementation (making sure it'd be good for the community and making what the community wants done happen). On the implementation point, once the 'suggestions council' has decided on something that should be implemented, the idea would be sent to (with all the backing of the grand influence of the council) to a dev to get it done. Devs aren't going to ignore suggestions that the community comes up with which are ALSO supported by a lot of their peers. Having a group of staff cosign an idea gives it legitimacy, and that legitimacy means it won't be ignored as easily by devs.

As for 'forcing staff' to look at ideas, I don't think you'd have trouble finding staff willing to participate - most of them actually do want and try to be helpful. It doesn't even have to be staff. It could be a clan council type gig, where all they're looking for is users that are capable of giving good, well-thought-out opinions. Not to say it should be full of regular users - there needs to be some in-the-know staff that are able to comment on things like feasibility.

I think that goes back to making that 'How to post a suggestion' idea in the prop. You could also create a 'How to make a constructive post' thread (/make one big 'How to post in Suggestions & Ideas' thread). Make it caps/tell people you'll ban them if they post without reading. Enforcement/'moderation' goes hand in hand with the implementation of any policy. If it's not enforced, then there's no reason for people to follow it.

edit: And Jodus, 30 degrees. Centigrade. The best word to describe it, in combination with the 70% humidity, is 'sticky'.

If enough people are interested in such a thing I can donate one million tc.

The thing is that toribash is full of dumb people and it probably won't be interesting at all because people suck and the same old people would win. So it's probably a terrible idea.
GMs will never support that anyway.
