One year is too long imo, 1 month does feel a bit short but it will be good activity wise. Maybe a fresh start every quarter/season could be a good compromise ?

Letting the championships to people playing for ranks ain't a good idea imo. Some great players just play for fun and don't care about their rank on a daily basis, but they care do care about events and competition.

Clan wars have their own separate system (which is being revamped as well), the ELO ranking only concerns individual ranks !
