Ranking changes
I'm updating our ranking system. Rankings will reset every month and only some servers will have ranking enabled on them.

Whats new from today:
- Only selected servers will be ranked. "This is a ranked server")
- Before ranked matches you'll get a message. "This is a ranked match (#rank vs #rank)"
- I've enabled ranking on the tourney1-8 servers. Admins can put ranking on any server they please.

Whats coming:
- On the 1st of August I'll clear the current rankings. Yes, all rankings will reset.

On the last of the month will be able to have special events for the best players of that month.

This is still in development so if you have any suggestions feel free to post in this thread.

We've pretty much established 1 competitive "kicking" mod which is erthtkv2. Slapping some "random" mods there seems quite stupid. Here are my problems with this change.

#1 Taekkyon.

The 10tf judo. Everyone knows that this mod is 30% luck. By putting this back in we revert all the competitive "progress" people have been pushing for (modwise). Adding the mod that is infamous for random dms and glassjoints into the competitive mod list shows a failure of understanding competitive gameplay.

#2 deltaboxfixed

Mod with 250 ed, 200 dm threshold and tf 50,20,20,20.

MFW

Adding a mod that has 250 ed and 50 first tf (50,20,20,20....) and 200dm basically means it will be feet first lunging. Feet first kicking is proven to be the optimal way to attack time and time again. Im not arguing that the mod wont work. But if you want to categorize mods, why on earth would you put this in the same category as erthtk and tk? They have utterly different gameplay and playstyles.

#3. When I want to make a working system I test the components and then add parts that work. We dont know if deltaboxing works, we dont know if taido2 works. There has been 30 (guess) competitive games in these mods combined. The idea that you can just throw couple of mods that seem cool into the pile is pretty ridiculous. We have a mod that works! We already have that!

Final question(s):

What was the goal in adding some mods that havent proven themself, or even proven not to work, into the list? For variety? for fun? None of those things are what people who compete asked for. We asked for competitiveness.
The ELO rooms are a massive step in the right direction. But I feel we just took two steps forward, and then one step back.

EDIT: if the goal of multiple mods was to prevent 1 mod mastery. Just make all the high ELO lobbies mixed with mods that have proven to work.

EDIT2: There are now 12 mods total. Nobody should be expected to play 12 mods well.

Also had happy times complaining

I dont think we have competitive data from Taido tho. Again, if you want to get some forced variety sure.
But from a competitive standpoint that means nothing.

Taekkyon was once considered THE competitive mod, nowadays not so much, it has 1m games.
That image is meaningless

Yeah, I want to stress that even with my posts sounding very negative, I think this is great improvement.

My suggestion is to make the categories in <1000 <2000 <3000 etc.

The categories aren't rank, they're based off ELO

<~Skul> they're not children, they're demon midgets
<~Skul> if you kill one in front of the rest, they'll scatter and leave
Idk if this is the right place to ask, sorry if it's not, but does anyone play Taido2?
Why is it in the list of ranked mods, I've never seen anyone play it other than when it's forced upon people through events.
What's the reasoning behind putting it in the list?
PM me with any and all questions
Why do you have rb_greykido/greykido instead of standard aikido and 1 of the 2, i know it's the whole farm thing but if it's on a wheel does it even matter?

I'm sorry, what the fuck did i miss yesterday? No ranked boxshu? Bit unfair for those who focus solely on those sort of mods eh? All these ranked rooms no-one even goes in. I'm the first person to enter one for ages and those with higher ransk won't bother going into the higher ranked rooms as they want to protect their elo.
I'm sorry but this is pretty bullshit in my opinion.

If you're only good at wushu mods then you shouldn't be a high rank

Yeah, I only don't like erthtkv2 because of the mod's name. Make it "tkv2," and the mod will instantly become more popular. This is a valid reason as the name of the mod is still an important feature that no one seems to have yet discussed.
