We've pretty much established 1 competitive "kicking" mod which is erthtkv2. Slapping some "random" mods there seems quite stupid. Here are my problems with this change.
#1 Taekkyon.
The 10tf judo. Everyone knows that this mod is 30% luck. By putting this back in we revert all the competitive "progress" people have been pushing for (modwise). Adding the mod that is infamous for random dms and glassjoints into the competitive mod list shows a failure of understanding competitive gameplay.
#2 deltaboxfixed
Mod with 250 ed, 200 dm threshold and tf 50,20,20,20.
Adding a mod that has 250 ed and 50 first tf (50,20,20,20....) and 200dm basically means it will be feet first lunging. Feet first kicking is proven to be the optimal way to attack time and time again. Im not arguing that the mod wont work. But if you want to categorize mods, why on earth would you put this in the same category as erthtk and tk? They have utterly different gameplay and playstyles.
#3. When I want to make a working system I test the components and then add parts that work. We dont know if deltaboxing works, we dont know if taido2 works. There has been 30 (guess) competitive games in these mods combined. The idea that you can just throw couple of mods that seem cool into the pile is pretty ridiculous. We have a mod that works! We already have that!
Final question(s):
What was the goal in adding some mods that havent proven themself, or even proven not to work, into the list? For variety? for fun? None of those things are what people who compete asked for. We asked for competitiveness.
The ELO rooms are a massive step in the right direction. But I feel we just took two steps forward, and then one step back.
EDIT: if the goal of multiple mods was to prevent 1 mod mastery. Just make all the high ELO lobbies mixed with mods that have proven to work.
EDIT2: There are now 12 mods total. Nobody should be expected to play 12 mods well.
Also had happy times complaining
