I've been playing a lot of showdown lately, got to quarter finals in a couple official tours so i guess im doing alright, so far ou and uu are the most fun to me. If someone wants to give me advice on standard team building that'd be cool tho.

i'd suggest always carrying stealth rock in OU cuz it does a lot of damage to tailonflame
never use a Skill Link pokemon (like Cinccino) against a potential rocky helmet user
also a good team with mixed tiers is this from DrHax (i edited it a bit tho)

just start with Azelf to get out the stealth rocks
and then predict and play smart

tried flamethrower and it didnt work out too well
im sac'ing my Azelf after i got the stealth rock and only use it to make some damage on the leading pokemon,
cuz it can really do anything as a late game sweeper
i dont sacrifice it when i still need the Taunt or Stealth Rock cuz the opponent has a potential Defoger or Spinner, but thats not the case most of the time.
Some people have a Smeargle to troll a bit with Spore, etc. but the lead off with it in general so it i can just bring out my Azelf as usual so it fulfills his purpose in the first few rounds (most of the time)

Zapdos and Chandelure can deal with them pretty well
(maybe even Venomoth to set up myself)
Absol-Mega looks soo epic *-*
