Competitive sparring?
Could sparring be competitive, as in non cooperative? Wouldn't be pretty cool if people would start creating boxing, wrestling, karate, taekwondo, grappling, etc. spars where both players are trying to win, but also maintaining realism? There could even be events based on competitive sparring. I understand that some people would be greedy and only go for points. If there was to be a competitive sparring event in a certain martial art, there should be some sort of qualification process for players wanting to join. To go along with this, matches that are part of a competitive sparring event, a referee could be present during the match to make sure that both players be fair. I think this would be a cool idea, what do you guys think?

What I'm talking about shouldn't be viewed as a spar, but instead as a closest-to-irl as possible fight. Think of it as a more realistic version of normal mods (aikido, mushu, lenshung, rkmma, etc.). Rather then replays being "cool", they would be all about skill, and to be used for fun or for competition.

There's no another thing as MAS.(that's my opinion you know)

maybe TRichard21's MAS is to be competitive and not fluid, crazy.
Running away...
Competitive or unrealistic sparring would nearly be wushu, not the same thing but pretty close

you can't completely focus on style (realism, in this case) while having the mentality of every multiplayer mod ever (score) they just don't combine
I find competitive spar so much fun as long as you don't sacrifice the realism for "winning moves". You can try use different styles etc and see how it goes.

People think this won't work, but you would be surprised how well it does work, its actually pretty common nowadays.

Back in 2012 chazer / hatterson started competitive sparring in a dojo which was super fun.

....and if you ever wanna try this PM me.

I have actually thought about some sort of event where you can pick your fight style and you would unlock more moves the more wins you got. E.g. in round 1 you can claim 1 fighting move, lets say "Punch" or standard kick where only 1 leg leaves the ground. Then next round you could pick an additional move, maybe like a 360 air kick?
Judges could then score the fights, only scoring moves that they had stated was apart of there style.

Scoring fights would be pretty difficult and a lot of buthurt people would begin to cry but it might be possible if the judges are fair.

In terms of a public lobby realism / competitive mod you could do this quite simple by making it so the only part that doesn't dq is the feet and ankles. This would force players to be in a standing position at all times.

I suggest sumore_xt.tbm
Everything but feet dq, even hands.
There's no points, only grappling, and the gravity is -40, so there's no floating around.
But, grab is off, so you need to clamp, or push to win.
As you can see cowmeat has a huge advantage because he plays realistic and stuff.
