Okay, so the anime I am looking for, I've seen it before just can't remember the name.
The story line is basically magic and school. The magic is finding and capturing these magical beings in which you use to help with everyday life. I think they were called familiars. Now there is the strongest mage who is said to have 72 or some number. Later in the series a fake one comes in, and another time a mage is giving others cursed familiars.
I can't remember the name, but one of the main characters is a red head girl with a fire cat familiar.
The first episode opens up with a guy walking in a forest and he sees the red head girl take a bath in a pond, she is looking for an incredibly strong one. It turns out to be a sword.
