[art] Gargon's "art"

Hello peepole.
I am Gargon. Some of you may know me from the far away land of replays. Who am I kidding you don't know me.

I have decided to dabble into art just a bit, but I am currently spiraling deeper and deeper into the insanity known as art.

I mostly just draw random shit on paper at school, but I discovered piskel and had some fun with that as well. So this thread is going to be centered around random doodles on paper and some pixel art (and if I manage to get a drawing tablet in the future that too).

most of this is gonna be shitty so be prepared

ps: all my artwork is free to use, do whatever you want with it, other than selling it I guess.

well that one was intended for a gif usertitle, but those aren't vip or toriprime features afaik, you can only get them from the Nabi Profile Customization shop. But I could make one like that if you want anyway. Same thing but instead of the duck there would be a turtle?

You're way too damn creative. I fucking love it.
The small details on these things are what make them excellent.

So my friend gramofon asked me to make a pixel gramophone.
we describe his replaymaking style as "retarded", so in the true nature of his "retardation", I present to you,

an avvy sized retarded pixel gramophone.

Great to see that you're having fun with what you're doing, because that is THE IMPORTANTEST THING. Gonna be honest with you though, you need more practice. At least you're not doing pillow shading, so that's a good start. :v

Your pencilthings are actually pretty good, so i'll focus on the spritey things:

THE SHADING. Try practicing with some basic volumetric shapes before going big, such as cubes, spheres and cylinders. It's great for building up your sense of space, which is EXTREMELY USEFUL for arting. Then, once you have that down, try to see how the things you draw relate to these forms. For example, a grammophone's speakerthing is just a bent cone, so it'll have shading similar to a cylinder.

THE LINES. While you "only" have a mouse to work with, try not to depend on it too much for free-hand lines, because mice are TERRIBLE for free-hand drawing (speaking from gruesome experience). It can be used to set up a sketch, but be prepared to manually clean up the lines afterwards, because raw mouse lines rarely look good. This particular tutorial covers the most common pitfalls, and then some.

But basically, the most important thing is to keep at it. Checking out tutorials like the above isn't a bad idea, though obviously (and sadly) they're not like magical skill boosts. :v

Thanks mang. Ill be sure to practice when I get home. As you said, my stuff is basic, but ill work on it as it caught my eye :-)
