Not quite sure what to do around the top and back of the head, I was going for a kind of Russell Crowe in Gladiator thing but didn't really plan anything out...

You guys are right, the face was definitely too wide. Updated the main post with a narrower face and a different style for the back and sides.

Tip: work on 1024x512 - this'll help with correcting proportions come 'sphere time'. (Face is still wide)

Make the wings on the side of the helmet longer and or taller - right now they just seem like an odd decoration.

Again, work on 1024x512 - or work with 512 to make shapes spherical when they should be. With 512x512 you need to make the sphere skinnier, while with 1024x512 the shape will not be distorted. (pupils +iris are circular irl)

Beard (jaw) line is too wide.

Eyes are too wide.

I always wondered why people worked in 1024x512, thanks!
