General Striking Study
knee decap.rpl
this one takes a while to get going but leading up to the actual decap you can see liar trying to line up various other knees. in the end he manages to get his opponent off the ground giving him an opening.
he lowers one shoulder (as well as contracting the wrist) and ungrabs with the other to allow for the knee to connect. combine this with the momentum produced by the hip contracting he manages to get the decap.

knee dm.rpl
knee dm.rpl ends pretty quick. going in to his usual opener he transitions into a knee. by extending his left shoulder and rotating his chest hes capable of making the momentum needed. he also adjusts the lumbar to ensure that the knee connects.
at the same time as this liar is lowering the opponents shoulder as well as his own which in turn trips over his opponent. though the dm it self could've been saved if it wasn't for being tripped as well as vice versa, if not for the knee dm he wouldn't have given the opponent enough momentum to fall over his hand.

knee split.rpl
during the opener they both keep distance with both have raised shoulders and crusher staying grounded.
after this he lowers his shoulders closing the gap between him and his opponent. as well as this he then extends his left knee pushing himself forward, combining this with a contracted hip and the opponents momentum the knee manages to split the opponent in half.
nice try on bananas half though, almost managed to save those legs. even if just for two turns is pretty impressive.

another one (knee).rpl
after the opener both players lose ground control resulting in a short air-grappling match. after they both regain ground liar contracts his knee and later extends it as well as his hip to give him a launch. from here he contracts his right hip and both elbows bringing the opponent and his thigh/knee hitting rumour's shoulder.

sorry that i couldnt get any mma style or elbow strikes. most of the time when someone pulls it off it results in the elbow being dm'ed or the mma style strike doesnt provide enough points that its not worth to risk it.
also sorry for not being too in depth with the setups. its doubtful that anyone intends to get him and the opponent into a position 100 frames into the match due to the randomness of it all. i can go over them again and write some more about it but i thought talking about just the strikes and how he got the momentum will suffice

Life's not a waste of time and time's not a waste of life so let's stop wasting time, get wasted and have the time of our lives - Mr Worldwide 3:18
Just popping in to mention this is a trial run of a new process. Was going to wait a bit to run it but this guy gave me a reason to do it now.

What I'd like to happen in this thread is that he posts replays regularly so we can view his improvements. We'll also give him pointers and try to meet up with him ingame.

(gonna get him to edit the op with gmt and active hours)

Okay sorry I took so long but this looks good. Better than any knee attempt I've made myself so I want to add this to the general striking study.

My notes:

• knee_split.rpl is really interesting because he delivered a straight "spearheaded" knee attack. In contrast to the other 3 replays where the knee was delivered in the roundhouse kicking style.
I would love to see more of these. Also in this replay you see
• another one (knee).rpl was awesome as well it looked like a flying knee attack. Fuckin love it.
• I've had some success with elbows, so I'll see if I can land a few tonight and put together a conclusion on them.
• Last thing we would need to cover is punches, especially hooks (contracting the elbow before impact).
• With the above two bullets complete we can collaborate and write a general striking tutorial that would cover how to execute the 4 main strikes: hooks, elbows, kicks, knees.

he failed only because he didn't contracted elbows, otherwise you would be launched head to ground

True but good top pressure makes any mistake more penalizing.
Good guard pull Jedi.

You need two hands to suplex but still good replays.
The first replay, abdaz, can qualify as a snap-down.

Joint-locks Study
BJJ study is now closed due to lack of contributions but I would call it a successful study. But this will derive from that study.
Anyways lets look at the definition of joint lock and come up with our own..

Wikipedia says: "A joint lock is a grappling technique involving manipulation of an opponent's joints in such a way that the joints reach their maximal degree of motion."

Looking at this part: "in such a way that the joints reach their maximal degree of motion".
This means nothing in the toribash domain so I'll change it to: " a limb or section of body becomes immobilized."

TA's definition of a joint-lock: Grappling technique where you commit two or more of your own limbs to manipulate an opponent's joint in a way that their limb becomes immobilized or even broken.

If you think you've achieved something like this lets see it. Armbars included.
-----
After some consideration I updated the definition of a joint-lock to include the general sense of how it could be executed and how it should effect the opponent.

I wouldn't say that's a joint lock because you aren't attacking the leg specifically. Instead it looks like you used the kick catch to keep your opponent unbalanced while taking them down. Nicely done.

i think its time to re-evaluate.
