So I've recently learned about the Nuzlocke challenge and decided to start to play Pokémon LeafGreen again. My clanmates who are really into pokémon, especially Pidda, challenged me to complete a Nuzlocke challenge in this particular game.

The Nuzlocke challenge is an interesting way of playing pokémon. In general, the game becomes more challenging, and lets you play with pokémon you would otherwise perhaps not choose to play with.

The basic rules of the challenge are as follows:

• When your pokemon falls in battle, it is considered dead for good. You must release it or permanently box it as soon as possible.
• You may only catch the first pokémon you encounter in any arena. (e.g. route 1)
• Blacking/whiting out means Game Over.
• You must give all of your pokémon nick names.

I am interested about your personal experiences with this way of playing. Post your stories, progress, questions, even your comics if you make/have made any. I'll try to keep you updated with my progress as well playing LeafGreen.

I am playing with no fleeing and 5 pokecenter visits per town.

Okay, my progress so far:
My starter pokémon is Charmander, which I named Diesel. After obtaining pokéballs, I proceeded to catch a Pidgey on route 1 which I called Spitfire. Then I caught a Rattata on route 22 which I gave the name Stuart, caught another Pidgey on route 2 called Morgan and a Caterpie which I named Slimeball was obtained in Viridian Forest. Then I started grinding until I had hyper fang and I oneshotted my rival with it. Then I cleaned out the forest, Brock is next.

Edit: Brock is dead, but so is Diesel. Reckless overconfidence.

a bit confused here
we must catch the first pokemon we encounter on each area.. or we only can catch one, but it doesn't matter when we encounter it on each area?

I miss the rule about trainer id stuff, but since it is optional i let it go. Choose Squirtle and named it turtle
