I was just typing about how IRC feels old and outdated with discord now, how Toribash is beomcing stagnant because most people who play tb now are from the old days and they don't want change. Official Discord :c

Really, you can use both if you want. Or just IRC. It's up to you, introducing an official Discord won't affect any IRC activity on the short term, I think.

IRC servers are indeed easy to set up if you know what you're doing. People not used to IRC will have a harder time connecting to IRC than users who do have experience with IRC, which is obvious. But connecting to Discord is almost instantaneous. You click a link, enter a nickname and you're done. No manually setting up irc.toribash.com/6667, no join commands, no nickserv registering/identifying/ghosting, all that stuff is confusing for people who don't know IRC.

The point I'm trying to prove is that Discord is more user-friendly than IRC, definitely for new people. Know that I don't wish to replace IRC with Discord. I do agree it's inconvenient if you don't want others to know your Discord tag, that's gonna be a difficult problem to tackle.

I think this is more going to be more supported than it not being supported. It just matters on who will manage/create it. Admins? Or will we separate the forums mods from the discord mods?

I support it, it's going to make support a lot easier (as long as staff actually use it), it's generally more user-friendly and, as Light said, its possible to have auto-moderating bots.

I'm sure you wouldn't care about having a more convenient place for people to have contact with staff members and have the ability to flame them, it's almost like you don't have that problem.

there is a ban option you know right? discord works just like irc but better, you can even set bots to keep things steady. There are numerous discords with more close to 100 members, and it still has an organization and the moderators dont have issues.

Ban from irc for flaming
Get shit wherever else, PMs, shitposting threads in dumb places
Ban from Toribash for flaming
Uses ban appeal to continue insulting/whatever
Revoke ban appeal access and repeat with an alt until they figure out how to dox you. It's nothing different, users should reach out for help and join IRC if they need it. It's not worth my time to be in direct contact with every toribash member in more places (think about the kinds of members in this community) at all times as a requirement of what I have to do as an smod. Meaning I shouldn't just mute the chat and continue to use it for servers I actually want to use.

This doesn't really matter, this is just me saying I'm not going to be part of an "official toribash discord"

Let's not get personal Tyzi! I think it would be a great alternative/addition to add discord to the many mediums we already have! I've run WAPOW's Discord for a while now, and I've had ZERO problems with managing anything. Most moderating capabilities are down to the spot, excluding server security etc. which is handled by Discords staff themselves.

Anyways , I support the idea that Discord should have official toribash servers for new comers... I've never used IRC , still don't utilize it till this day ( never found use for it , so I used Skype , personal preference really).Discord is a lot easier to use in terms of managing them , and chating with other strangers in the community , I'm pretty sure there are some down falls with the use of Discord , I can't really say because I've only started using Discord a week ago I believe... To point out something , rarely any player that I've met adds a list of players they may know when using the commands , it's useless to new comers and players world wide(went off topic for a moment).
