Uh... Just don't hire dickheads? That's pretty simple. Like I said earlier, pick members that are mature.

Most members who were TAs back in times were considered mature, still caused problems. Also the burnout rate in TA is nowhere close as in any other staff group, even GK/GM/ES - the job isn't fun, beginner tourneys suck ass an so on.
Still not my call whether to bring back TA or not, so these are just my thoughts. Of course it wouldn't hurt to try, but it requires having some top staff member interested in taking over the group - otherwise it'll turn to shit pretty fast.
If nobody steps up, or you can't find anyone, I'll do it. As much as I regularly open myself up to being made fun of, I'm actually a great leader and terrific organiser.

I still don't see maturity being an issue if the TAs are selected properly. I'm not talking about 'mature' 14yr olds here. Talking about people that have been around the block and people who aren't mean-spirited. Nice guys. People similar in character to Phail or Solax, for example. It's unimaginable that people like that would start bashing noobs.

On lessening burnouts, I'd suggest we focus less on beginner tourneys. Perhaps we could have members holding a tourney just once per week, on the weekends. As we sit in servers, we hype up the weekend events and get beginners excited about coming back to play again ("Wow PlayerName, you're kicking butt here in Judo, you should think about participating in the beginner Judo tournament on the weekends").

Server sitting is sort of what you make of it. If you're an introvert and you're not socialising with the players, then yeah, the job would suck and you probably wouldn't be suitable for it. If you're chatting with the new players though, cracking jokes and helping everyone get along, I don't think that'd be boring. Chuck on a podcast or a show in the background and you're golden.

If burnouts remain a problem, then we could experiment with some incentive systems. All we gotta do is make the carrots outweigh the sticks.

Definitely think it's worth and try and I definitely think that if handled properly, we'd see a reduction in the problems you cited.

Just wanna address this. Advertisements doesn't have to be paid to be effective and I would argue that you could pull thousands of new players with like 20$ budget, of which some would probably spend their money on the game making it pay off and most likely even increase profit.
I feel for advertisement, you could get a well known youtube gamer to play toribash, the video will get views and enough people will be curious or funny enough to try out this game.

The point people have been making is, this has happened before, and a large influx of people do arrive, however it doesn't last as the people often only join and leave as soon as the youtuber does, all the while injecting that little bit more toxicity.

A program of retaining players must first be implemented before it is worth trying to get youtubers to feature the game and get the players in.
I would be willing to help teach people in aikido.
Perhaps a new people tips thread with the first post updated with the best tips posted in the thread organised by mod. So for aikido its stuff like one leg at a time and pics of safety positions. To help smooth out the learning cliff.

I think the largest issue is the grind to get anywhere in the game, and then when you get there you get diminishing rewards.

Exactly you would think this game was a God dann RPG with the grind needed to get anything.

When you think about things that keeps people attached to a game it's probably objectives and milestones. Think about most popular online games like CS:GO, LoL, Rocket League.. They all got a good player rewarding system which gives prizes for reaching certain rank or stage in the game. In Toribash any new player can quickly realise that it doesn't matter what you do, you won't get any rewards without rank 1, risk or grind.

This game mainly lacks persistent objectives that people would feel motivated to chase and work for. I could even argue that last ranking system was way better because you had a constant rank that you could try to improve, as well as have your specific mod ranks that you would feel motivated to hold if you reach a high rank.

Reaching rank 1 is pretty much impossible nowadays, especially with the way that the system is set up encouraging all sorts of dirty ways of progression, like looking for noobs to abuse and get easy elo or just get a buddy on his alt to assist you in obtaining rank 1 by him losing few games to you.

And besides rank there is nothing, nothing at all. Even the achievements are quite buggy and half of them dont show up as achieved even when you should get them.

I feel like making a daily quests that would reward players with TC would be most effective way to increase activity or instead of rewarding rank 1 with insane amounts of TC better system could take place like reward top 10 or top 20 (of course rank 1 would still get the most)

I feel that there could be a lot more content for begginers, they are outsiders in any gm tourney or event and joining legit clans is a bit of a problem. So I think tori agents hosting begginer exclusive tourney or some simple forum events would be really cool. Also somewhere I saw the idea of begginer clans (credit to that guy), I think that 2 begginer clans that are led by respected members of the community, with a couple of teachers on their side would really help out retention rates because this will give noobs a platform to easily interact with other begginers and to learn from others which could also lower the toxicity.
Also the 2 clans could have a healthy rivarly with frequent clan wars against eachother and some prizes for the winners.

If there's a big enough begginer influx I feel this could work great.

I'm all about reviving the TA's

You're not going to get a result. That plan won't work.

As said before, HS has been picking up the responsibility of joining and sitting in Beginner rooms. Personally, as ES and HS, I've been able to do both jobs, and enjoy it. Regarding what Ele said; there is now an HS recruitment drive that will pick up a few more HS that can do this job. The 5 of us HS currently have been able to hop into beginner servers pretty well as of now, and the inclusion of a few more members will lead to more people hopping into servers, naturally.

I like the idea of beginner clans and the opportunity of having some sort of rivalry and events that could take place is exciting to me. Note that anyone can do this, and staff don't need to be the ones to pick it up. Some of the better people to help the community is the community itself I think. I want to see where this can go.

I'd like not to be overly negative, but a lot of the reasons that Toribash has such a poor track record of getting new players interested and keeping older players that way is deeply ingrained in the meta of the game. The learning curve is one of the steepest of any games, where new players will comically flop around for a couple of hours and give up 8/10 times and never look back. As someone who has a pretty good understanding of the game, I think the truth is YouTube tutorials can really only do so much. The main way to actually succeed in online player is to get a feel for the control of game. This process can take hours of practice for some, there is no instant satisfaction.

Another point I mentioned was older players forgetting about the game. I certainly don't consider myself to be a pro player, but for the last few months I've been very rarely picking up the game because I find my interest in it to be dwindling. This is because I feel that the game doesn't really reward you after a specific point. I don't mean free TC or anything like that, I mean actual visible, tangible achievement coming from succeeding. Many of the things put in place like belts, and QI are seen to be superficial by some. The ranking system is good, better than it has been, and the fact that it changes every month is good in some ways, as it encourages monthly visits, but i stress that, MONTHLY. I'm finding it hard personally to keep interested in Toribash, and I feel like i'm not the only one looking at the statistics.
