I agree with ThePirateKing, the anime is so good that it does make you actually wait for the second season and not go after the manga.
And the coolest part is that the second season is close.

If any anime becomes popular enough and becomes mainstream, it'll be classified as overrated these days. I just like to watch and enjoy anime that interest me, regardless of how popular it is and looked down on. I wouldn't exactly praise the show, but I really liked it.

I tried to watch it a couple years ago but never actually did. I regret that, honestly. But you are correct, the mysteries were real since there was no explanation of what was happening. The beginning actually was really important to the end once I got there and was like WOAAAAAH.
Also, I started watching Shiki. This shit is spooky so far.
