Micah I love you but what you guys fail to realize with what Horizon is saying is more fact than any of you could understand, realize that Horizon is also an ES artist and has more insight on this predicament. Nonetheless, I see the flaw but there isn't much that can be done except for going over the top this time, wishing everyone good luck and can't wait to see this month's entries.

Lets break it down then. With what is so called "fact".

The point of said criteria is for the judges to judge by, and the artist to use as guidelines. I LIKED almost every head submitted, but my liking does not dictate which head is better, the criteria does. (should)

not because of how much time you've spent studying and implicating a certain art style.: Clearly misunderstood this all together. When art style was mentioned during the discussion it was in relation to the uniqueness of artist and the applicability to toribash head textures and this events set guidelines, ex. No abstract artist is going to come here think for 4 hours make 3 colorful marks say its a horror head and expect it to win. No one expects judges to judge based on the artists' styles, how is that not common knowledge. How the artist draws does not matter, how the artists' drawing fit the criteria is what (should) matter. A realistic piece should not be chosen over a cartoon/anime one because the winner before it was also realistic and vice versa.
(Edit: This is mainly in regards to the idiotic 'It just another wizard, or just another anime girl' argument that is so popular.)

The fact that he is/was an ES artist and has "insight on this predicament" just makes this that much more disappointing.

We'll always keep the criteria in mind when judging but sometimes the opinions of the ES group can differ from the opinions of others since judging those criteria is still something that's partially subjective.
That is something that was also noticable in the differing opinions of the artists that participated on who should've won, chab, clint, weppetko, monobi were all mentioned by contenders.
We try to get as broad of a board of judges as possible in order to get the best number of opinions to base our results off but our result might still differ from those of others in some cases like last HTotM, this however doesn't mean that we don't follow the criteria or that our voting is biased.

For the record, this thread is for the submissions for this month's HTotM and not to look back at the results of last month. If you want to talk about last month discuss it in #art or somewhere else but this isn't the right place.
Any future posts that discuss previous months instead of the current submissions will be deleted and/or infracted.

What about also getting the opinion of the public (us) with a poll?

The polls from google docs then so it's hidden.

The head that has the most vote's won't win, but it should give that head an advantage of winning.

if you are going to implement polls via google docs, make sure it won't be abused.
