I don't know about that. Community consultation on projects like this can only be a positive thing. I've said this before to Gynx, when we were working on the clan rework. If you're the government and you're planning on implementing some big project that'll affect the community, then the first thing you do (after developing a draft proposal) is to go to the town hall and see what everyone thinks of it. You don't have to implement every change that the people suggest, but you can get an idea of their general concerns and of what they like about the proposal. I was shut down by Gynx at the time because he strongly felt that this consultation process should be conducted after it's already been implemented - like a beta stage. I think that's short-sighted though, since there's absolutely no harm done in getting the community's opinion on it while it's still a draft. In addition, the more that someone is involved in developing a project, the more satisfaction they'll feel with the end results. Discussing the drafts of big community projects with the community can only be a beneficial thing if handled properly.
Just a thought, I've been closely following the development of a game called Project Zomboid, and when the dev team had to work some multiplayer issues and steam integration, but all the team was busy on something else, they hired help from General Arcade as an "outsider" developer.
It helped them a lot, especially for the steam integration, maybe something along those lines could be done for the development of a matchmaking system you'd explain beforehand. But then again, it's just a thought ^^
This would certainly be very cool, unfortunately this isdefinitely a hampa decision and not something the GM team can have any bearing on
Yeah I thought so, but you guys should bring it up in your secret GM forum or something. I guess you have a way to adress it up there ^^
The new rank system is absolutely horrid. Ranks literally mean nothing anymore. It hasn't for a while but in the early days, ranks actually MEANT something.
in the old rank system it didn't really matter if you did do that but now it matters now and tbh it was executed poorly when you say its better you have to think who it was better for
but if a skilled player doesn't play in ranked servers, how is the system going
to measure his skill?
example,i played 4-5 ranked games like 2 weeks ago and i am rank 600 something now,how its logical to be ranked just from those games?
also the mods chosen for the ranked servers are too few,
how can you measure a player's skill just from those mods?
i think the best solution would be in between the old and and new system,
reintroduce the belt servers/ranks and mod ranks, your global rank should be
based on the mod ranks, the more ranks you have in multiple mods,
the higher you get in global rank
I just went rank 192 to rank 2000 by losing to a noob who get a lucky dm...
Now i have to play 5 hours in a row to get in a decent rank...
With this system, I'm almost scared to play vs low rank players because when u lose to them, you're fcked.
The thing is that when I'm rank 200 i still have the same elo as when am rank 2000, and that's dumb :/
What do you as a gamemaster think of the less servers-more circulation thing? Every time I go in game, the official servers are hauntingly empty, which doesn't look very good for the game.
