Gay Marriage/gay adoption
Imaginative, eh?
But because this hasn't been discussed since old debate, why not. Might as well have this topic around.

Please note: this topic is about 2 different things, so keep that in mind when answering.

So, what says you? Personally i think all arguments against gay marriage are hopelessly weak, and this video reflects my views precisely.

Now, i understand adoption is not as black and white, but even here i side with homosexuals. Thousands of children grow up all around the world with no parents at all, even though there are plenty gay couples willing to adopt them and give them home to live in. There is no evidence that i know of which suggests that upbringing among gay parents can suppress natural sexual orientation, and if there is I'd like to see it.

Each to their own. Kinda bigoted to be against it.

And just cos someone has gay parents it doesn't mean they're going to turn out gay, though I do find the idea of a gay couple kicking off cos their son brings back a chick amusing. ^_^

<Erf> SkulFuk: gf just made a toilet sniffing joke at me
<Erf> i think
<Erf> i think i hate you
1. Why get married?

2. Let them adopt, they are just as capable if not more.

Also, Reanimator people don't mean to have babies, unless they actually want one of those creatures around. It's because they are stupid and in general people are stupid about certain things.

Oh yeah? Even ones who are bound to grow up in an orphanage?
You'd rather them stay there until they are 18 than have a gay couple become their family?

They don't just give orphans to anyone, you know. Adopting a kid isn't like buying a pack of gum.
I think this subject is really hard to talk about.
There are so many things why it is ok and why it is not.
so many points of view. Also if you come out and say

U are immediately chosen to be hated just for pricipals.
I think that marriadge is just a symbol of love and devotion as War_hero said.
So it is not relevant if theres 2 men or 2 women or man and a woman.
but the adoption is harder for me to choose.

But you shouldn't be personally uppset about somebodys opinnion.
EVEN if they are trollin' or just being like "I HATE GAYS!"
It's their point of view let them have it and try to prove them that they are wrong.
Dont go and flame them about it afterwards
Or be like "I hate that dude he sucks"

Quantifiable, not quantifiable...why care?...They are REAL in a sense that they effect the individuals and, in turn, society. Suffering is also not quantifiable, but a society functions worse and worse the more of that stuff is present.
If, on the other hand, you care none for society or human suffering, why even bother trying to tip the scales either way?

As long as marriage bears tangible, practical benefits (tax cuts, ability to marry someone from overseas thus granting them citizenship, etc) it should not be denied to any adult citizens.

Yes to "Domestic Partnership", done by a lawyer, not a priest.

Yes to adoption.

Homosexuality isn't a disease. It's a life choice. And not a bad one at that. It's just different. It's a mocker of civil liberties to not have equality based off sexual preferences too. We can't control who we love. And some "holy book" isn't the dictator of law. That's why there is a separation between church and state.

Personally, I don't even understand the opposition to why you wouldn't allow domestic partnership. If it's not done by a priest, it's none of your business. And who says homosexual's wouldn't make good parents? They go through more emotional hardships than anyone else right now. They can actually relate and help their children more than most can.

Alas, domestic partnerships never have the same benefits as an actual marriage does. If we are to deny them marriage, then strip "marriage" of all it's practical benefits and make it a purely religious ceremony which has no effect on your wallet.
Hydrotoxin:

You do realize that over population is a global disaster right now correct? So a group of people who don't add to the issue is great.

BTW: "take love and affection out of the equation"? It's marriage. That's why it was invented. The final bond between two individuals to live and love together forever.

And you have a rather bad point at your negative incentive point. Society frowned upon African-Americans and said they weren't real people so they could be their slaves. That doesn't mean it was morally or ethically correct.

As for your point about the reason we need laws: What the state regulates and what extremists and unethical people do are completely different. The state finds murder illegal, that doesn't mean people can't murder. Laws are suppose to govern over the ignorance of society. It's so even if some racist wants to burn an African-American, and his friends thinks its okay, the state stops it.

People don't always treat others with respect and equality. That doesn't make it right. And the state should get involved in that.
