Let me preface this by saying that given the higher quality of this content compared to the usual posts in here, I'm going to be more critical of it as well.
Going to be assessing this as I would any song, not just a hobbyist one.
As the tradition in the art board is, here's the criticism:
This was a at times a bit all over the place composition and mixing wise.
I think what has happened a bit is the classic "this sounds empty, let's fill it up a bit"-syndrome everyone has to struggle with. Especially in the mixing stage.
There's nice simplicity to the riffs most of the time, not going too tech when the point is just to rev which is great.
From a thematic standpoint the brutality is reflected pretty well and the vocal performance sounds good and "slappy". Alltho the mix could've been a bit grittier to reflect the violent nature of the track.
From a mixing stand point I do not have other problems with the track. I do have small grievances with the kick drum tho, but that's just a really small thing for a picky person like me.
The guitars are nice and thick while being clean enough to make sense of them.
I feel the main issue with the track is that it suffers from the fact it has too much going on regarding fillers.
The reverb filled backing guitars and wide panning on everything creates a hard to follow feeling to the track.
Legendary tracks like Messugah's bleed literally have almost everything in the middle and no fillers anywhere, yet it manages to be hard as shit.
Alltho from a mixing standpoint that whole album is poop it manages to convey that brutality through its simplistic mixing and composition.
All in all tho pretty fucking solid work. I really had to get picky to get anything meaningful to complain about. Cheers for sharing!
