Toribash

Help needed!!!!
I couldn't find anyone else that had mentioned my problem, so i'm asking you guys now. I run ubuntu 8.10, and have toribash installed and everything runs fine, except for one thing. for some reason it gaives me 2 custom folders. on in my "Home Folder" (like C: in windows) and then one in my .toribash folder. i figured out that in order to see the textures i made i have to put it in the "custom" folder inside the .toribash folder. it doesn't show up if i put them in the "home folder" custom. HOWEVER! the game automatically puts everyone elses textures in the "home folder" custom, so i can't see anyone elses textures! wtf?!?!

is there anything i can do? i tried moving the .toribash custom folder to the home folder, and my textures stopped working. I know it's not a big deal, but it would be nice for it to work right!

and sorry for begging but, PLEASE HELP!!!
Ah... I know how to fix this!

Give me a minute to find my old post.

I've just been asked to post this in here:

If your using the Linux deb repo version there's a high chance you'll not get any updates (textures etc) - it's a file permission issue. For whatever reason the version of toribash in the repo has a symlink for custom & data to a root controlled folder, so as a user you can't change or add files.

I ended up copying everything from the linked root directory into the hidden .toribash folder so I had user access.

Failing that you could always change your user so it's in the root group, but that's just asking for trouble.

(I'll also add that this isn't the case with the plain download version which updates fine)

There you go. ^_^

Yeah, the custom folder in .toribash is a link to a root folder - delete the linked folder & copy the folder it was linked to in it's place. Change the permissions so your user has full read/write control.

If fixing the .deb is a bit much then just download the .tar.gz

As a lill bit of added info re: the .tar downloads it'll make a full new set of custom folders anywhere you run it - so using the command line is advised.
