Toribash Wii: Overhype?
Alright, I know we're all excited for the wii version to come out. I know we all want to play it with our wiimotes, and look at the cool hair, and use all these corny moves they've outlined in the tutorial. Maybe we'll make some replays, and then rewind them just because we can.
Be honest though, does it actually look that good? I think (forgive my bluntness) that it probably won't be worth the time, effort, or money.

Look at what's been shown to you.
There's a bunch of little moves you get taught in neat little 30 second videos. Moves that you can only use in judo, and that any smart opponent could block.
Next, you've got all these great new features that everyone wants to see. Let's make a list, shall we:
Hair (completely useless, doesn't even look good. Mainly just stupid.)
Rewind Feature (Ok, this might be useful for videos, but I'm not sure how it actually works. In terms of replays, you could just start over and press E. It's alright, but not really anything great if you ask me.)
Sticky Blood (When blood hits you, it stays on you. Cool. Wow. Amazing. No.)
Better Graphics (Though not by much. And they give toribash a kind of a digital animation look that I don't find even remotely appeaking.)
Sound Effects (Again, I don't like them at all.)

I'm sure I've missed some things, but really, I don't see how it's gonna be all it's hyped up to be.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

Litto: Hey, besty.

h4rl: Have you seen basically every thread about Toribash for the Wii? They're all massive. And mostly it's people drooling on their keyboards as they say "omg! I can't wait to wii on toribash! i mean play toribash on wii!" and nabi has been juicing it like crazy as well. When was the last time you heard about any development on Toribash for PC?

the reson why your slaging the wii verson is

  • you dont have a wii
  • you've been peveusly banned
  • you cant afford the game
  • your sad

im excided to see it out in the shops and play it.
and i know from experence, wii games havnt had good graphics, control, phisics or thrill rate.

and i dont think that nabi would spend soo much making the game if people wouldnt droll for it.

soo get lost, you sad sad little person

Are you seriously posting this in my thread?
Get out. And the rest of you who aren't legitimately contributing, you get out too. Like you, Blam, and you, grumpyman2.

And NutHug, thanks. I had hoped you would post here. But I still don't see why everyone is making such a huge deal out of it. As far as I can tell, the only thing you've said is really cool is that people will have to play differently.

as for the people who actually have brains, Sticky blood would kick ass, joint boosting would rock, and as for the actual effective gameplay I like the physics in the wii version, its more like what the gravity in tb used to be....you fall better in it...idk you would have to have been here to understand what i mean . I think im gonna go blow 219$ on a new wii than buy toribash for it...and ya, could you guys make a vid of blood landing all over a guys face....when he has hair, just to show how epic it is?

That's not what I said at all. I told the people who aren't contributing to leave. Not the people who disagree. And I don't know if Blam's played it, but he certainly didn't do anything in this thread except put a link to a promotional video showing the things I already brought up. Don't be stupid. If I was telling people who disagree to leave, I would have told NutHug to leave. And if you notice, I thanked him for posting and asked him a question.

As for the rest of your post, it's stupid. You haven't contributed either.

Anyway, to clarify, this thread isn't the "Would you buy it?" thread. Shit, I think it's gonna be pretty bad, and I'd buy it. To test it and see if it is, and to support nabi. But it's not. It's here so we can discuss whether or not we think the game is going to be as good as people have been making it sound.

Dalir, I'm thinking you look good in blue.

Wow, WiiBash hate.

K... Reasons why it's awesome & worth buying:

  • It's fun. Always the most important thing with a game, and TBH I had more fun playing the Wii version than the PC one.
  • New stuff. Yeah, hair, rewind, sticky blood, boosted joints etc might not seem like a big deal but think about it - they're new! How often do you see random stuff added to the PC version that isn't an item or engine/render improvement? The rewind feature is especially good for replay making, no more having to press R then pause followed by advancing to the exact frame you want. You can just go back.
  • Multiplayer. Online - check. Hasn't anyone noticed that the game doesn't make you wait in a queue? You get put against another person there & then. Oh, and local multiplayer - does the free PC version have that? Didn't think so. ;) Now you can play face to face with someone on the same machine. It's awesome, though it did make me want to jam my Wiimote down nutty's throat! XD
  • No more slowdown or breakages due to updates. It just works and that's all there is to it. You're not going to have problems with new versions because it doesn't need patched & everyone's hardware is equal.
  • Supporting Nabi. Buying the game = Nabi gets money. That money is then used to develop. You can figure out the rest.
  • It isn't exactly the same game. You already know that due to physics changes you'll have to come up with new moves. The game may work the same, but it doesn't play the same. Like I stated earlier, it's more fun.
  • No douchbaggary. Yeah, you're not going to have someone hurl abuse at you. No one's going to accuse you of cheating for doing something. No one's going to quit just before you win (<3 Wii Wifi & it's exit/shutdown lock). There'll be no server ops repeat kicking you because they think it's funny.

Nutty's pretty much covered the rest, and regardless of what others think I'll be buying it the day it's released. Then again I've played it & know how win it is.

prove this, this alone is reason to buy it

Chat is limited to 'marcos' so they can't actually spam abuse. You can see it in use on the video Blam posted.

And the inability to quit is common with 99% of online Wii games. When online the Wii disables the ability to switch off/standby, it turns off the home button (so you can't quickly drop to the menu) and unless the programmers go out of their way to add an option to leave mid game (some FPS have it, but no others do) then the only way to leave is to cut the power to the console.

Basically the only way someone can be a tool about it is when you're playing in the same physical room as them, and well that's part of the fun. ^_^

Oh, and for people who either haven't paid attention to the info & vids or have been living under a rock - when you are having to wait for someone to play online you get to mess about in SP, so you're not staring at the screen.
